MLA advocates yoga for holistic health
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam South MLA Ch Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav said that holistic health can be achieved by following yoga. Speaking at the Yogandhra programme organised here on Sunday under the aegis of Medcy Hospitals, MLA Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav mentioned that health should become top priority over anything else in life. Briefing about the the International Yoga Day (IYD) celebrations, the MLA informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan and 50 dignitaries from different countries will also participate in the IYD event to be celebrated on June 21. Hospital managing director B Sireesha Rani mentioned that they have been creating awareness for the past few days to make the IYD programme a success. The MLA and hospital managing director Sireesha Rani performed Asanas. More than 200 people participated in the programme. Later, doctors who played a key role in promoting yoga were honoured with mementoes.

Mayor lays foundation stones for development works
Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao mentioned that development programmes are being undertaken in all wards to steer Visakhapatnam towards the progress path. On Saturday, he, along with Visakhapatnam south constituency MLA CH Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav, laid foundation stones and inaugurated several project works under the GVMC jurisdiction taken up in the constituency at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor stated that the coalition government is functioning with a primary goal of developing the state on all fronts. He stressed that under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the coalition government has made plans to provide necessary infrastructure and improved amenities to the public across the wards. A total of Rs 3.5 crore has been allocated for various works in the segment, including cement roads, drainage canals, construction and repairs of community halls, borewells, park renovation, compound walls, arches and other development activities at various localities, said Srinivasa Rao. Areas such as Gollalapalem, Chakali Gedda, Gangula Gedda, Bhupesh Nagar, Allipuram SC Colony road, Bowdara road, Coconut Garden, Mantha Vari Veedhi, Market main road, Sunnapu Veedhi Panja Junction, Government Victoria Hospital, Kotha Agraharam, Kotha Jalaripeta and Golla Veedhi will be developed with the funds received, he informed. The Mayor directed the GVMC engineering department officials to ensure that the works begin at the earliest and that contractors should complete the works with quality within the stipulated time. Speaking on the occasion, South constituency MLA CH Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav stated that infrastructure would be given top priority in each ward. The MLA expressed gratitude to the Mayor for sanctioning and initiating several development works in the constituency. He emphasised that the coalition government is committed to develop Visakhapatnam in a way that garners national recognition. GVMC Jana Sena Party floor leader B Vasantha Lakshmi, corporators Bipin Kumar Jain, M. Mary Jones, Ch Janaki Ram and G Vijaya Lakshmi, GVMC 4th Zonal Commissioner Mallayya Naidu, Executive Engineer U.N. Food distribution vehicles to reach out to poor
Visakhapatnam: In order to reach out to the poor and satiate their hunger, food distribution vehicles were flagged off in the city on Wednesday. Marking the World Hunger Day, the vehicles were launched by Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Visakhapatnam as part of its corporate social responsibility. After inaugurating the vehicles, Visakhapatnam South constituency MLA Ch Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav lauded the efforts of the jewellery group for catering to the needs of the weaker sections. Appreciating the group's management, the MLA said the jewellery group allocated Rs.150 crore for the initiative. He said that the group has been organizing various service oriented programmes in the fields of healthcare, education, poverty eradication, women empowerment, environmental protection, and construction of houses for the poor through the Hunger Free World scheme.

Fishermen appeal to VPA chairperson to resolve grievances
Visakhapatnam: South constituency MLA Ch Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav along with fishermen community leaders from the constituency met chairperson of Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) M Angamuthu here on Tuesday. During their interaction with the chairperson, the major problems faced by the community at the fishing harbour were brought to his attention. Fishermen did not pay taxes to the VPA during the Covid time. The community leaders requested the chairperson to waive off the dues to be paid. Along with this, they appealed to the port management to set up necessary cranes to dock the boats at the harbour. Later, they discussed various pending issues to be resolved. Responding to the fishermen, the chairperson assured them that the problems raised by them would be resolved at the earliest. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vamsi Krishna Srinivasa mentioned that he fulfilled his promise of arranging the fishermen community leaders a meeting with the port chairman so that they could get their problems resolved. The MLA expressed hope that the chairperson responded positively to the issues raised by the fishermen and work towards resolving them soon. Representatives of the AP Mechanised Fishing Boat Operators Association and Dolphin Association, constituency coalition leaders, fishermen leaders Appa Rao, Lakshmana Rao, Fisheries JD Lakshmana Rao, FD Asha Jyoti and GVMC DE Venkateswara Rao attended the meeting.
