Man killed in Mandya after mistaken identity in a revenge attack

Mandya: A case of mistaken identity claimed the life of a man when armed assailants killed the wrong target late on Friday on a deserted stretch of Hemmanahalli Road in Maddur, Mandya district. The victim, Arun, 34, a native of Vaddarahalli village and a cab driver in Bengaluru, returned home for the Varamahalakshmi festival. According to police, 8–10 men armed with long knives and sharp weapons attacked him, killing him on the spot. The night before, Arun was out with his friend Surya, his brother Umesh, and relative Devaraj. Outside a bar, Surya clashed with Vikas over an old rivalry dating back two years. The dispute turned violent, but Arun and others intervened to stop it before resuming their outing. Later, an attempt was allegedly made on Surya's life. Police suspect Vikas informed the assailants that Surya was wearing a white shirt. When the attackers struck, Surya and others ran. Unfortunately, Arun—also wearing a white shirt—was mistaken for Surya and chased on Hemmanahalli Road before the assailants cornered him. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Mixed Pink Salt With This - Now She Can't Stop Losing Weight Your Health Undo While Devaraj escaped, Arun was repeatedly stabbed and died on the spot.
