Shah Rukh Khan's new home was once a promise fulfilled by Vashu Bhagnani to his wife Puja Bhagnani: ‘She requested for 1 BHK in Bandra…'
As Shah Rukh Khan's iconic sea-facing bungalow Mannat undergoes renovation, the superstar and his family have temporarily shifted to an equally luxurious residence—Puja Casa, a sprawling four-floor apartment in Bandra spanning 10,500 sq. ft. But what's making headlines isn't just the location or the rent—Rs 25.15 lakhs per month—but the fascinating story behind the house itself. According to HT, the apartment belongs to Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani, and is officially owned by his children, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. Interestingly, the space has been rented not just for Shah Rukh and his family, but also for their accompanying staff and security personnel. In a candid chat with Reviewron, Vashu opened up about the emotional significance of Puja Casa and how the home was born out of love and commitment to his wife, Puja Bhagnani. Vashu ventured into real estate alongside his film career. During his early years in Mumbai, his wife had one simple request—to own a 1BHK in Bandra, a neighborhood she admired deeply. He recalled, 'Andheri East wasn't the most desirable area back then. My wife would often say, 'Please get us a one-bedroom house in Bandra.' By a stroke of luck, my friend Govardhan Tanwani had a property on 383 Linking Road. When I asked him about renting it, he kindly offered it to us without charging rent.' The couple lived there for about a year and a half while Vashu worked tirelessly, investing in land and constructing buildings. As success followed, he eventually fulfilled his wife's wish in a grand way. He recounted, 'In 2009, I gifted her an entire building in Bandra's Pali Hill and named it Puja Casa after her. She had asked for a 1BHK, I gave her a whole building. I had promised myself I would never sell it—only rent it out. It would be my backup in tough times. In film production, you never know when you hit a slump.' Vashu Bhagnani adds that several of his industry friends also live in the same complex. He shared, 'Certain circumstances forced me to sell parts of the building over the years, but SRK currently lives in the same flat on rent.' Vashu's love for Puja Bhagnani extends far beyond bricks and mortar. Most of Vashu's buildings and business ventures have carried her name. However, for a while, their production house operated under the name Pooja Entertainment—a change made based on numerology. In an interview with SCREEN, Jackky Bhagnani explained why they eventually went back to their original name, Puja Films. Jackky said, 'My friend Mudassar Aziz pointed out that we had slowly drifted from 'Puja Films' to 'Pooja Entertainment'. It made me wonder—why the change, especially when my mom's name is Puja, not Pooja?'' When the actor asked his mother, she admitted she had followed numerology advice years ago but still preferred her actual name. 'She told me she never liked when people called her 'Pooja'. That's when we realised—if we are building a legacy in her name, we should do it authentically. That's when we returned to Puja Films.'

Vashu Bhagnani Regrets Making Bade Miyan Chote Miyan With Ali Abbas Zafar: 'Made The Biggest Mistake'
Last Updated: Vashu Bhagnani regrets making Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Ali Abbas Zafar, calling it a mistake and vowing to revive the franchise with David Dhawan's comedic flair. Veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani has opened up about the debacle of his 2024 action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, headlined by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. In a candid conversation with Ronak Kotecha on his YouTube channel Reviewron, Vashu admitted that the film's failure still stings and he considers it a misstep—especially in hindsight of what the original 1998 film achieved. Participating in a rapid-fire round, Vashu didn't mince words when asked for his thoughts on the latest version of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. 'Bahut acchi film thi pehli waali, Amitabh Bachchan aur Govinda waali. Second waali theek nahi thi," he remarked, clearly differentiating the beloved original from its rebooted successor. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the 2024 version aimed to reinvent the title as a high-budget science fiction action film, but failed to click with audiences. Despite a promising opening day, the film's theatrical run fizzled out quickly. Made on a hefty budget of ₹350 crore, it managed to gross only ₹111.5 crore worldwide, earning the unfortunate tag of a box office bomb. Vashu didn't hold back when reflecting on the decision to collaborate with Zafar. 'I made the biggest mistake by making Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Part 2 with Ali Abbas Zafar. He didn't understand the title," he said. 'We got tired of telling him that this is a comedy film. You can add action, but at least make it an action-comedy." The original 1998 Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, directed by David Dhawan, was a riotous double-role comedy starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. Released alongside Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, it still managed to emerge as a box office success, solidifying its place in '90s Bollywood nostalgia. Now, Vashu hopes to redeem the brand with a reboot truer to its roots. 'When I make it again, I'll get Rumi Jaffery ji to write the story. And if David Dhawan ji doesn't direct it, I'll ask him to produce it with me, because his mind works fast when it comes to comedy." While the 2024 version tried to modernize the franchise with a star-studded cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, and Alaya F, its detour from comedy to high-octane action proved to be its undoing. Now, all eyes are on what Vashu does next to revive the legacy of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan—with laughter, not lasers. First Published:
