Piloo Vidyarthi 'Disappointed' With Sarzameen Role, Says Ibrahim 'Lacks Depth'

Last Updated: Piloo Vidyarthi, from Mandala Murders, expressed disappointment over her role cut in Sarzameen. She also spoke about Ibrahim Ali Khan getting trolled for his films. Actor Piloo Vidyarthi, who recently impressed audiences as Kalindi Shastri in Mandala Murders, is enjoying the love showered on her latest work. However, she remains candid about the ups and downs of her career. In conversation with News18 Showsha, Vidyarthi opened up about the satisfaction of being a part of a well-written ensemble, and the sting of seeing her work cut from films. The actor, former wife of Ashish Vidyarthi, revealed that she was extremely disappointed to see her role chopped to nothing in Kajol, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran's 'Mandala Murders is a step towards getting that one good role I've been waiting for," Piloo Vidyarthi told us, adding, 'Every character in the show was established in their own right. It was a beautiful experience. I had a similar experience in Vedaa too, but I wasn't as disappointed as with Sarzameen. Vedaa removed most of my parts as well, but they did somewhat establish my character. In Mandala Murders, I had a critical presence and people are recognising my work. That matters to me." Piloo Vidyarthi expresses disappointment over her role in Sarzameen Piloo Vidyarthi contrasted this joy with her disappointment over her recently-released film, Sarzameen. 'Beech mein main phas gayi hoon, na Sar hain na Zameen hain," she said, recalling how the project began with promise. After a detailed narration and look test, she shot extensively in Manali and Mumbai, playing a nanny-like figure, quite like that of 'Farida Jalal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", pivotal to a child's emotional arc. But when she saw the film, she realised, 'The makers have gone wrong somewhere because the director struggled to piece together the narrative." Her entire storyline had been removed. 'They didn't retain even 20 per cent of what was shot. I was disappointed, so I'm not promoting the film as well. Yes, we can talk about it since it was released, but I wasn't used at all. These things happen in our journey, so that's okay. But yes, it's disappointing when you prepare for a role and it's reduced to nothing," she admitted. As for why she didn't push back, Vidyarthi explained, 'As actors, especially in supporting roles, we don't always have the right to question such decisions." She also revealed that she recently shot for a film Yami Gautam in Lucknow, where the 'makers narrated the story to Yami" but not to her. 'These are the prices I pay because of the genre I'm in. Unless someone trusts me and gives me that role, I know these limitations exist," she admitted. Piloo Vidyarthi says she now chooses roles with meaning These experiences have shaped how Piloo Vidyarthi now navigates her career. 'I accept only projects where I feel my presence is significant. I want to be cast in roles that are meaningful and worthy of my craft," she said. Piloo Vidyarthi says Ibrahim Ali Khan lacks depth In the course of the conversation, Piloo Vidyarthi also spoke about working with Ibrahim Ali Khan in Sarzameen, who has been in the news for facing online trolling. 'Acting depends on your life experiences—how you have lived your life," she reflected. 'He was very nice to me, clicked photos. But I think he needs to have some depth. Star kids are also under a lot of pressure to live up to their parents. And Ibrahim comes from a family of big achievers. They have seen attention since forever. No one is bad." view comments First Published: August 10, 2025, 15:00 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. War 2: Censor Board Makes Major Edits In Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR's Film, Kiara Advani's Viral Bikini Sequence Trimmed

New Delhi: War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani in the lead, is set to arrive in theatres on August 14, 2025. Ahead of its premiere, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has made several changes to the film, including audio and visual cuts. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers were forced to mute 'inappropriate references' in six places in the audio and visual department. Additionally, an 'obscene' dialogue was replaced by an approved sentence and an "obscene' gesture made by a character was made to deleted. The CBFC also instructed the War 2 team to reduce sensual images by 50 percent, which in duration amounts to 9 seconds. Reportedly, the sequences in question are those of Kiara Advani's bikini shots in the song Aavan Jaavan. No changes were made to the action scenes. After the changes were implemented, War 2 received a U/A 16+ rating on August 6, 2025. The censor certificate lists its runtime as 179.49 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds. On August 8, the makers of War 2 once again approached the CBFC. Sources reveal that they voluntarily cut the film's length to 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds (171.44 minutes). An industry source came up with another revelation. They disclosed that it was CBFC's Revising Committee (RC) that cleared War 2 and not the Examining Committee (EC). They said, 'It is possible that the EC must have asked for many changes, which must have prompted War 2 makers to approach the RC,' as quoted by Bollywood Hungama. The insider added, 'The Presiding Officer of the RC was Padma Shri Ramesh Patange. He is known to clear those films for which the EC has had reservations. Last year, he had cleared the controversial film Hamare Baraah and also Vedaa. The latter also had faced issues with the EC, after which the RC cleared the film, albeit with changes.'

‘In my head, I believe…': John Abraham shares why he's not fully convinced about doing OTT projects

The OTT platform has emerged as a top choice for both audiences and major celebrities, with many big names making their digital debuts. However, it appears that actor John Abraham isn't in a rush to join the trend. In a recent interview, the Dhoom star shared his perspective on the matter and said, "In my head, I believe, I was made for the big screen." John Abraham on why he is not doing OTT projects In a conversation with Hindustan Times, John Abraham expressed his reservations about working in the OTT space. He reportedly pointed out that venturing into the digital medium requires a large operational setup and a dedicated team, yet creators often don't retain ownership of the intellectual property. According to him, the revenue earned is usually offset by operational costs, making the effort less worthwhile. He added that most people involved in OTT would agree with this perspective, which is why he doesn't find it practical to pursue web series at the moment. However, he acknowledged that he would be open to producing a web series if he came across a compelling story that genuinely resonated with him. The Vedaa actor clarified that his interest would stem from a desire to share a meaningful narrative, rather than to pursue it as a business venture. This, he explained, is why he has not taken on any OTT projects as a producer so far. As for appearing in web content as an actor, John Abraham maintained that while he wouldn't rule it out entirely, he currently has no intention of doing a series or an original film for an OTT platform. He stated that his focus remains on the big screen, which he believes is where he truly belongs. Although he holds great respect for digital platforms, especially given the high-quality international offerings and standout Indian productions like Paatal Lok, he doesn't yet see himself fitting into that space. On the work front, John Abraham has teamed up with Rohit Shetty for his upcoming project. The yet-to-be-titled film is a gripping thriller based on the life of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. The story promises to be intense, highlighting key moments from Maria's career, from his investigations into the 1993 Bombay blasts and the 26/11 attacks to his confrontations with the underworld.
