Veeam Software, a global leader in data resilience, has announced the launch of Veeam Kasten for Kubernetes v8. This latest version is designed to bring robust data protection to both traditional virtual machines (VMs) and cloud-native environments.
The company reported that the new release delivers enhanced security, streamlined operations, and enterprise-ready modernization. It offers organizations a unified platform to manage both VMs and containerized applications while ensuring data security and accessibility.
Veeam Kasten v8 introduces advanced features that support efficient data management at scale. According to Gaurav Rishi, Vice President of Product Management at Veeam, the new version helps enterprises simplify operations across hybrid infrastructures. He also revealed that integration with Veeam Vault provides fully managed offsite backups with no hidden costs.
The update brings several key benefits: Enterprise-Ready Modern Virtualization: Includes File Level Recovery (FLR) for KubeVirt VMs. This enables recovery of individual files without restoring full VM clones. A new VM dashboard also offers workload-centric views across cluster namespaces.
Freedom of Choice: Adds multi-CPU architecture support including ARM and IBM Power. Backup support has been expanded for NetApp Trident and ONTAP NAS 'Economy' volumes. Integration with Veeam Vault ensures flexible, secure offsite backups.
Security Everywhere: Features secure, self-service cross-cluster migrations and restricted privileges for Kasten Pods. ISO 27001 certification underscores Veeam's strong security standards. Simplified passkey rotation boosts protection and operational efficiency.
Effortless Operations at Scale: A refreshed user interface simplifies onboarding and ongoing management. Features like the Policy Management system, Restore Point Catalog, and Per Policy Protection Status improve visibility and ease of use.
Veeam has also introduced Kasten for Modern Virtualization. This version supports organizations using Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engine to modernize their VM strategies. It is a result of Veeam and Red Hat's close market collaboration. The offering is aligned with hybrid cloud strategies and helps organizations reduce costs while enhancing security.
Mike Barrett, Vice President and General Manager of Hybrid Platforms at Red Hat, stated that Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization gives enterprises a path to migrate and scale virtual machines efficiently. He added that Veeam's Kubernetes-native architecture offers scalable, cost-effective data protection.
The company revealed that both Veeam Kasten for Kubernetes v8 and Kasten for Modern Virtualization are now available.
