Two reasons why Juventus hope Huijsen joins Chelsea in summer transfer window
Former Juventus defender Dean Huijsen is expected to be one of the big movers of the summer transfer window, and the Bianconeri have multiple reasons to hope that he joins Chelsea from Bournemouth after an impressive breakthrough season in the Premier League. Huijsen came through the academy of Malaga and then later Juventus, representing the Next Gen side in 2023-24 before joining Roma on loan under Jose Mourinho for the second half of that season. Advertisement Opportunities in the Juventus first-team did not arrive for Huijsen, who was later sold to Bournemouth for a total fee in the region of €18m. Now, with a release clause just shy of €60m (£50m), the recently capped Spain international could be sold on for a significant profit after just one year on the English south coast. (Photo by) Why Juventus hope Huijsen joins Chelsea Juventus negotiated a 10% sell-on clause at the time of Huijsen's sale to Bournemouth, which means they will be entitled to a fee of just under €6m if his release clause is activated this summer. For two main reasons, Juventus are hoping that Chelsea are the club to persuade Huijsen this summer. Advertisement Firstly, the signing of a new centre-back would likely confirm that there is no room in the first-team plans for Renato Veiga, who is currently out on loan from Chelsea to Juventus. (Photo by) Reports from Tuttosport suggest that the Old Lady are keen to keep Veiga on board, and that they could look to renegotiate a new set of loan terms for the 2025-26 season as well. For this reason, Huijsen joining Chelsea would also be handy, as the money that is raised from Huijsen's release clause could be immediately reinvested into a new offer to Chelsea for Veiga. Tuesday's reports claim that the Bianconeri could look to negotiate a new, season-long loan deal for Veiga, with an option or possibly even an obligation to buy.

Report: Chelsea receive worrying Renato Veiga update
Report: Chelsea receive worrying Renato Veiga update Chelsea sent Renato Veiga to Juventus on loan during the winter transfer window, hoping he'd get regular minutes on the pitch – but that has not been the case. The youngster initially made a handful of appearances, three in Serie A and two in the Champions League, but an injury halted his momentum. Since returning, he's struggled to make an impact. He featured in Juventus' defeat to Fiorentina over a week ago but was subbed off early in the second half. Advertisement According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via SportNapoli, Juventus are unlikely to extend his stay. The club isn't convinced by the 21-year-old, and all signs point to him heading back to Chelsea once the season ends. Earlier in his loan spell, there was talk that Juventus might push to sign him permanently. But with his form dipping that option now seems off the table. The Portuguese talent had joined Chelsea from FC Basel for £11.8 million in July 2024 but managed only one Premier League start among 18 appearances, often deployed out of his preferred centre-back position. Juventus now believe that sending youngster back to Chelsea may be best course of action Thiago Motta was relieved of his duties (Photo by) Juventus are grappling with defensive injuries to key players like Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal, so they saw Veiga as a timely reinforcement. They secured his services on a loan deal worth approximately £4.2 million, covering his wages without an option to buy. Advertisement Upon his arrival in Turin, Veiga made an immediate impact. He started all five matches for Juventus, including a standout performance in a 1-0 victory over arch-rivals Inter Milan. However, Veiga's momentum was disrupted by a leg injury sustained during a Champions League playoff loss to PSV Eindhoven. Diagnostic tests revealed tendon damage in his right leg, sidelining him for two to three weeks . His return to action against Fiorentina was less than stellar; he was substituted early in the second half during a 3-0 defeat, reflecting a dip in form.

Juventus receive Renato Veiga injury boost as Atalanta loom
Juventus defender Renato Veiga has returned to group training and is expected to be available for a Serie A game against Atalanta on Sunday. The Portugal international suffered a muscle injury during a Champions League game against PSV in mid-February. Veiga had been training separately for the last few weeks, but Sky Sport Italia and Romeo Agresti report he completed a full training session with the rest of the team on Friday. It's a much-needed injury boost for Thiago Motta, especially because Federico Gatti continued training separately just two days before a crucial home game against Atalanta. The Bianconeri sit fourth in the table, three points below their next rivals. Juventus have recently suffered painful eliminations from the Champions League and Coppa Italia but won five consecutive Serie A matches, moving just six points below table leaders Inter. Veiga has made five appearances with Juventus since joining the Bianconeri on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
