Three-month Verdant Quest cleanup campaign wraps up, is hailed a success

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre's first Verdant Quest challenge has wrapped up.
The three-month campaign saw plenty of trash picked up for the city's parks.
Verdant Quest called on residents to volunteer for cleanups in the river valley and parks.
In three months, 445 bags of litter were removed.
Along with that, more than 900 dog poops and 1,200 cigarette butts were picked up.
The team behind Verdant Quest is thrilled to see it be such a success.
'That's the most exciting part of it—the actual impact that it has on the nature of Lethbridge as well as the city parks, and also in people's attitudes about caring about and taking responsibility for these parks,' said Chelsea Sherbut with the Helen Schuler Nature Centre.
Next year's Verdant Quest is expected to start in April.
