19-year-old shot, police seek information

The Danville Police Department received a 911 call Monday, May 12, around 10:30 p.m. that a subject had been shot in the 900 block of Oak Street. Officers arrived to find a victim with a single gunshot wound. The 19-year-old male victim was shot while he was inside a residence. Officers located several high-caliber bullet casings at the scene. The victim was transported to an Urbana hospital, where he was listed in stable but critical condition. Anyone who has information is asked to call 217-431-2250 or contact Vermilion County Crime Stoppers online at use the mobile app P3TIPS, or call anonymously to 217-446-TIPS (8477).

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A man was arrested in Danville after police found a loaded firearm in his car. Danville Police said their officers stopped 34-year-old John Forman of Danville on North Bowman Avenue near East Harrison Street for both equipment and moving violations on Thursday morning. House, garage in Sidell 'total loss' after fire Upon investigating, police found a loaded firearm in Forman's car. As a convicted felon, Forman is not allowed to carry a firearm under Illinois law. Forman was taken the Vermilion County Public Safety Building, where he was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A man was arrested on Friday in Danville after police responded to reports of an armed person inside a residence. Police arrived at the scene on Walnut Street near Woodlawn Avenue around 3 p.m. Witnesses on the scene reported to police seeing someone with a firearm. The Vermilion County State's Attorney provided a search warrant for the home. Hoopeston man arrested on meth, cocaine related charges While searching the building, officers found an illegal firearm. They arrested 41-year-old Jerrod Dyson of Danville in connection. Police then learned Dyson was a convicted felon currently on Mandatory Supervised Release. He was taken to the county's public safety building and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Obstructing/Resisting a Peace Officer. Court records show Dyson's next court date is Feb. 18.
