Vermont City Marathon hits the ground ‘running' this Sunday
BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – Runners across the state are gearing up for the annual Vermont City Marathon & Relay this Sunday, May 25.
This race , which first began in 1989, is a two-loop course that shows off 'some of the best of the City of Burlington, including the Church Street Marketplace, five miles of each loop on the bike path along Lake Champlain with views of the Adirondacks, and running through four of Burlington's beautiful parks,' according to RunVermont.
The Vermont City Marathon starts at 7:15 a.m. at Burlington's Waterfront Park. Those interested in participating can still sign up for this event as a marathon-runner or relay team. The deadline to sign up closes one day before the race, May 24 at 5:30 p.m.

Roadways and certain areas of the city will be impacted throughout the day. Roads will close at some point between 6:00 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. depending on the area. Road-reopening times will vary, but additional specifics on closures can be found here.
Parking will be banned in certain areas day-of, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This includes:
Lake St: Main St to Depot St
Main St: Battery St to Lake St
Main St: Battery St to St Paul St
Pine St: Main St to Maple St
North Ave, Battery Park to Leddy Park Rd
Lakewood Parkway (divided road entrance area only)
College St, Battery St to Lake St
Towing will be enforced, according to Vermont City Marathon staff.
