Rugged Adirondacks bike race draws over 200 competitors

WILMINGTON, N.Y. (ABC22/FOX44) – A difficult mountain bike race held on narrow dirt paths through the Adirondacks was won by a man from Williston, Vermont on Sunday, while a Pennsylvania man won on the longer and more challenging 100k course. The Wilmington Whiteface 100k and 50k mountain bike race was held for its 13th year. The longer 100k (67 mile) race featured nearly 8,000 feet of elevation gain on a winding course from Wilmington to near Elizabethtown and back, while the shorter 50k (30 mile) still involved a difficult loop in the Sentinel Range near Keene. Bike shops boomed early in the pandemic. It's been a bumpy ride for most ever since Brad Patnaude of Williston, Vermont won the 50k with a time of 1 hour and 43 minutes, while Bobby Lea of Pennsylvania won the 100k with a time of 4 hours and 16 minutes. Out of the 220 racers to complete either course, some of the most inspiring were the race's two oldest finishers, Ronnie Poplar of Wilmington, Vermont and Janice Bunn, a local from nearby Morrisonville, both in their 70s. Two teenagers also completed the 50k course – Adelaide Pearl of St. Johnsbury, Vermont and Duncan van Dorn from Lake Placid. Lake Monsters games get radio broadcast after ten years The race's course was slightly different from previous years owing to a missing bridge and road construction, and the morning started out chilly, but quickly turned warm under mostly sunny skies. Gabe Craig named first-team All American

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, or NCBWA, announced Baylor senior right-handed pitcher Gabe Craig as a First Team All-American on Wednesday, marking the first time a Baylor Bear received the recognition since Kyle Hill in 2019. Craig is the 11th different Bear in program history to earn first-team praise for a total of 28 times. Alongside Hill, Craig is now one of only two First Team All-America relief pitchers in program history. Additionally, Luke Boyd (2021), Zane Carlson (2000) and Troy Montemayor (2017) are the only other relievers to have earned All-America status, regardless of team distinction, in Baylor history. Statistically one of the most dominant relievers in the country, Craig finished the 2025 season with a 3-0 record and earned 10 saves in 32 innings of work. He struck out 51 batters and walked just three, holding opponents to a .124 batting average. He led the nation with a microscopic 0.56 ERA, a 0.50 WHIP and a 17:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Craig also ranked second nationally in H/9 (3.66), third in BB/9 (0.84) and owned the fifth-best K/9 (14.34) among Division I relievers. The NCBWA previously named Craig a finalist for the Stopper of the Year Award in addition to being named one of five finalists for the 2025 College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Award. He also picked up All-Big 12 First Team accolades and ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region Second Team praise earlier this summer. This is Craig's second All-America honor in as many days.
