EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 19 to stream on a Viacom platform in August
There have been a lot of discussions around Colors TV's popular reality show Bigg Boss returning with a new season both on OTT and television. From speculation that it may be nixed due to falling TRPs to a shorter season — Salman Khan-hosted show has constantly been in the news. However, SCREEN has exclusively learned that Bigg Boss is definitely returning. According to our source, Bigg Boss' new season will appear either in the last week of July or early August. Also, meetings are still on internally to decide whether one long season will run, or the team will retain the same old format of OTT, followed by the TV version. The source tells us, 'What is sure is that the show will happen with the Viacom group, mostly on Jio Hotstar, however, clarity on the same is yet to come.' 'As of now, it's not decided if the OTT version will air first or the TV version, it might just happen in the same old way, it has been running all this while,' the source added. It is also said that the teams are considering an OTT-first model for this season, however, there are no confirmations on the show's duration or platform, or even the versions it will appear in. Several media reports suggest that Salman Khan will shoot for the new season's promo by the end of June. Another update doing the rounds about the show is that the makers will go be to a celebs-only format, and the latest addition will not have any social media influencers in the mix. However, no confirmation around the casting has been made yet. The last season of Bigg Boss 18 was won by actor Karanveer Mehra, while Vivian Dsena became the runner-up.

Cruise's strange downfall and subsequent rebirth as one of the most bankable movie stars all began with a seemingly innocent act of love. When Cruise agreed to appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in May 2005 to promote his film, "War of the Worlds," it was a big deal. Cruise rarely did interviews, especially on daytime TV. As Cruise walked onto Winfrey's stage, the crowd went wild. Winfrey playfully tousled Cruise's hair, and the actor was clearly in a great mood. During the interview, Winfrey mentioned Cruise's latest love interest, Katie Holmes, who was off-stage where no one, especially the cameras, could see her. The excitement of talking about his new girlfriend led him to leap up on Winfrey's couch with joy. He did it a second time for good measure. And then, in March 2006, Cruise went global again with the controversial "South Park" episode "Trapped in the Closet." The episode originally aired in November 2005 and revealed what Scientologists believe is the origin of life, but it also depicted Cruise as an insecure person and played on rumors about his sexuality. In the episode, one of the main characters on the show, Stan, is thought by Scientology to be the second coming of its founder, L. Ron Hubbard. This leads Scientologists, including Cruise, to flock to Stan's house to pay their respects. But when Stan insults his acting ability, Cruise hides in Stan's closet, leading to Stan saying, "Dad, Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet." Comedy Central delayed re-airing the episode in March 2006 because Cruise reportedly had declared he would not promote "Mission: Impossible 3" unless Viacom (which owns the film's studio, Paramount, and Comedy Central) canceled the rebroadcast. Cruise's reps denied he ever threatened not to promote the film. The controversy made headlines all over the world and led "South Park" fans to declare they would boycott "Mission: Impossible 3" until Comedy Central aired the episode. The episode finally re-aired in July of that year. "Closetgate," as it would become known, was the last straw. Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi to exit Colors, move to Sony due to 'creative differences': Source
Two of the biggest TV shows in India currently may be looking to exit Colors TV. In what may come as a blow to the Viacom-owned TV channel, both Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi are in talks with Sony TV, sources have exclusively told Hindustan Times. Both Bigg Boss, hosted by Salman Khan, and Khatron Ke Khiladi, hosted by Rohit Shetty, are produced by Endemol India. The two shows air on Colors TV and stream on Jio+ Hotstar as part of their telecast deal with Viacom. However, sources say that there are creative differences between Endemol and Viacom about the future course for both shows. A source close to the development tells us, 'Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi may find a new home on Sony due to creative differences between the channel and the production house.' HT has reached out to Colors for clarification on the development, but has not received any response yet. The source says that talks between the production house and Sony TV are on but they have not yet signed on the dotted line so far. Interestingly, Bigg Boss had first aired on Sony TV when it began in 2006. But from season 2 onwards, it has aired on Colors TV. Both shows are adaptations of internationally hit reality shows. Bigg Boss is based on the format of UK show Big Brother, while Khatron Ke Khiladi is a franchise of the American show, Fear Factor. Bigg Boss has consistently been the most-watched reality show on Indian television since its inception. Despite a marked drop in its TRP ratings over the last few years, it still remains among the most-watched shows on Indian TV.
