Victor Cruz can already feel the difference in these Giants
The Giants are a little more than two weeks into training camp and one game into the preseason, but Super Bowl champion Victor Cruz already feels something is different with this year's team. Access the Giants like never before Get texts from Paul Schwartz with all the latest Giants news and insights, exclusive to Sports+ subscribers. tRY IT NOW The former Giants wide receiver had already predicted back in June that Big Blue would be above .500 this season, and speaking with The Post on Monday, he explained the encouraging vibe around the team. Advertisement 'There's different energy around the players and their attention to detail, and it's coming through. It's permeating on the football field,' Cruz said before teeing off in the APGA Mastercard Tour Championship Pro-Am being held at Bally's Golf Links at Ferry Point. 'That's just one game. See what happens throughout the course of the preseason, but the regular season is where it's going to tell where it's going to tell the tale.' The Giants are going into Year 3 of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen's tenure at the helm. Advertisement Corey Sipkin for the NY POST Big Blue went through one of its biggest offseasons in recent memory, selecting edge rusher Abdul Carter and quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first round of the draft in April, which Cruz suggested was the moment Daboll 'got his guys.' 'He got the type of athletes that he wants to have on this football team,' the former receiver explained before turning his attention to the other big offseason acquisition the Giants added. 'Obviously, I think I'd be remiss in saying that adding Russell Wilson to your roster just changes things. Just his pedigree, his attention to detail, his leadership. It just changes the way people behave and react out there. Advertisement 'I think that that's just a small thing, but a big thing when it comes to being a football player, being a part of a team and having a guy like that on your roster is pretty special.' The Giants won their preseason opener on Saturday and Dart threw 12 completions for 154 yards and one touchdown. The rookie QB's most impressive throw came in the second quarter on a 28-yard touchdown throw to Lil'Jordan Humphrey. I was excited to see him,' Cruz said of the quarterback's performance. 'There were moments where he still got some growing pains, still a rookie, still got to figure out decision making. But I was surprised at how athletic he was. I think he did some good things getting out of the pocket and doing some good things with his legs. And then obviously the touchdown pass and some of those throws were pretty accurate.' Cruz was in The Bronx on Monday to play the pro-am ahead of the start of the Mastercard Tour Championship, which is part of the APGA Tour, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring an inclusive future through the game of golf. The former Giant has become a golf enthusiast. He has been playing for the past four years and said that he was looking forward to picking up some tips from the pros and sharing whatever wisdom he can from his years in the NFL. 'I'm just excited to be here and learn just as much from them as they probably can from me,' he said.

California tax expert admits role in illegal alien's multimillion-dollar fraud scheme
A California tax preparer pleaded guilty Monday to helping an illegal immigrant file fraudulent federal income tax returns that claimed $25 million in refunds, the Justice Department said. Victor Cruz, 40, of Bakersfield, helped Miguel Martinez, a Mexican national who was in the United States illegally, carry out the scheme from November 2019 through June 2023, prosecutors said. Martinez allegedly used stolen identities to create fake businesses and report phony wage and withholding information for the businesses to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He then allegedly submitted hundreds of income tax returns using the stolen identities while claiming that they worked for the fake businesses and were owed tax refunds based on the phony information. Cruz prepared and filed more than 500 of the fraudulent tax returns, authorities said. In exchange, Cruz received thousands of dollars in fees from Martinez in exchange for his services. The IRS actually paid out $2.3 million of the $25 million in refunds that were claimed. Martinez has pleaded guilty for his role in the scheme and was sentenced to six years in prison. Cruz is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 17, 2025. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Jackie Apostel, 30, makes touching tribute to boyfriend Cruz Beckham as she wears a jersey with his name on while joining his family at his gig - amid ongoing feud with Brooklyn
Jackie Apostel has shown her support for her boyfriend Cruz Beckham by wearing a football jersey with his name on it while watching his latest gig. The singer, 30, showed her support for Cruz, 20, as she proudly watched on as he sang with his band in a performance which his maternal grandparents also watched. And Jackie made an extra special tribute to her boyfriend as she wore a red and white jersey emblazoned with her boyfriend's name. It was actually the number 80 jersey of former Giants player Victor Cruz, but also served as a special show of support for her boyfriend, who shares his name. As well as wearing it to the performance, Jackie was once again spotted wearing the jersey as she and Cruz visited a convenience shop in West London on Friday. She proved their romance is going stronger than ever with the sweet gesture, while the couple also flashed huge smiles during their daytime outing. It was actually the number 80 jersey of former Giants player Victor Cruz, but also served as a special reminder of her boyfriend, who shares his name During their shop trip, Cruz cut a casual figure in a white T-shirt and smart trousers as he enjoyed some quality time with Jackie, who he has been dating for a year. The youngest son of the Beckhams is reportedly getting ready to release his first album after sharing his first tentative steps into the world of music in December. Cruz kickstarted his musical career when he was just 11 years old and the Beckham family are said to have spent a small 'fortune' to help him create his sound with top songwriters, and is now reportedly friends with Kooks frontman, Luke Pritchard. He reportedly signed with the top music management company C3, who worked with US indie group The Strokes, as well as Thirty Seconds To Mars. He was supported by his grandparents Jackie and Anthony - his mother Victoria's parents - at his recent performance as they proudly posed with him after they watched him sing with his girlfriend Jackie. The show of solidarity came amid his older brother Brooklyn and his actress wife Nicola Peltz's heartbreaking rift with his parents, which led to them shunning David's epic 50th birthday celebrations last month. The rest of the family have been putting on a united front since then, with Romeo, 22, also sharing a snap of himself with paternal grandmother Sandra, 76, to Instagram Stories on Friday. Last month, MailOnline revealed that tensions in the family have grown so bitter that Cruz was going out of his way to avoid his estranged brother. He has taken to contacting the family's favourite hangouts ahead of any visits to confirm that he won't cross paths with his sibling. Cruz is said to have sent messages to the owners of their haunts specifically asking questions such as, 'Is Brooklyn there?', to make sure the coast was clear. Amid the tension, Brooklyn has bought an £11 million mansion in LA has been revealed, exposing a shocking new twist in the family feud. It has been claimed that Brooklyn's decision to purchase a new home in LA and put down roots in the American city was tied to him wanting to create permanent distance from his parents and their base in London and the Cotswolds. However, an insider has revealed to MailOnline that the decision was made because Brooklyn simply feels more at-home in LA after spending much of his childhood living in the US, and it has always been home to his American wife. The source shared: 'This house has nothing to do with family dynamics. David and Victoria also own property in the US, this is no different. 'Both Nicola and Brooklyn's careers are based in Los Angeles, and Brooklyn spent part of his childhood there while his father played for LA Galaxy. 'During that time, he attended school in LA for several years and built a life and friendships in the city. LA has always felt like home to him.' The financial aspect of Brooklyn's new home has also reportedly sparked some tensions between his parents, and Nicola's father, billionaire Nelson Peltz. The Sun are reporting that Brooklyn does not entirely own the five-bedroom mansion, with a majority of the property owned by Nicola. Sources are now claiming that David and Victoria now feel their son is 'trapped,' especially after he signed an iron-clad prenup before he and Nicola married in 2022. However, the Peltzs have accused the Beckhams of being 'tight' and failing to support their son.

2 undrafted receivers will enter New York Giants training camp with head of steam
One question New York Giants fans will be asking themselves this summer is: Who are Beaux Collins and Dalen Cambre, and where did they come from? The Giants' two undrafted wide receivers were standouts during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp, making catches and opening eyes. Next month, they will both get a chance to continue to impress at the team's training camp. Collins (6'3", 201 pounds) began his college career at Clemson and finished at Notre Dame. Like many players who switch schools via the transfer portal, Collins fell off the scouting radar, which tamped down his stats. Cambre (6'0", 192 pounds) played five years at Louisiana, catching only 10 passes for 132 yards in 63 college games. To say he's a deep sleeper is an understatement. Advertisement Collins' sudden emergence could be the reason why the Giants haven't signed any bigger-sized free-agent wideouts. Cambre is a noted special-teamer, a trait the Giants hold great value in. He'll have to continue to prove his value as a receiver to win a roster spot, though. Can one, or both, become the next Victor Cruz? We'll soon see. It won't be an easy road. There's a logjam at wide receiver this summer. Four names -- Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, and Wan'Dale Robinson -- are already set in stone. Behind them are veteran free agents Lil'Jordan Humphery and Zach Pascal, Ihmir Smith-Marsette, and Bryce Ford-Wheaton. Collins and Cambre are among a competitive rookie free agent bracket that also consists of Juice Wells Jr., Montrell Washington, Jordan Bly, and Da'Quan Felton. Advertisement It will be a long climb for both, but it should be a fun summer watching these youngsters battle to become Giants. Super Bowl Champion Optimistic About an NY Giants Breakthrough
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. This week, the New York Giants hosted one of their most notable wide receivers of this era of football. New Jersey native Victor Cruz was back around the team and got an early sense of what his former squad could look like during the 2025 NFL season. Although Cruz admitted to the New York Post that he "started to get the bug back" being on the field, the 38-year-old former pass-catcher had to put his analyst lens on instead of his cleats. Based on what he saw, Cruz is optimistic about the 2025 NY Giants. Although it's early, the one-time Super Bowl Champion got a positive sense of what the roster could do when they get to the regular season. "I think we have a good team," Cruz said, via The Post. "I think for the first time, [head coach Brian Daboll] has a team in a draft that you could feel he wrapped his arms around. These are his guys and we'll see how he develops them and, and get them ready to play." Since joining the Giants in 2022, Daboll has just one winning season. During his first season in charge, the Giants went 9-7. They faced the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the playoffs, pulling off an upset and winning 31-24 on the road. Victor Cruz #80 of the New York Giants in action against Nolan Carroll #22 of the Philadelphia Eagles during their game at Lincoln Financial Field on December 22, 2016 in Philadelphia, the Giants stepped foot in rival territory to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, that's where the run ended. The Eagles defeated the Giants 38-7. In the following season, the Giants finished the year with a 6-11 record. Although they third in the NFC East for the second year in a row, the losing record prevented them from going to the playoffs that time around. Last year was Daboll's worst year yet. With a 3-14 record, the Giants finished last in the NFC East and missed the playoffs for the second year in a row. New York made some big moves in the offseason, notably adding multiple veteran quarterbacks after cutting ties with Daniel Jones midway through last season. Russell Wilson will take over, while Jameis Winston will come in and play backup. The rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart will be waiting in the wings, learning from both veterans, which is a scenario that Cruz believes is a major benefit for the former Ole Miss quarterback. During Cruz's seven-year tenure in New York, he was fortunate to be in a situation where the Giants knew they had stability under center. While Russell Wilson might not be the franchise's long-term passer, they expect him to maintain the starting role throughout the year as they hope to re-enter playoff contention.
