In big districts, no takers for model solar village scheme

Nashik: The state power distribution company has failed to get even a single village in the state's major districts, known for industrial and trade development, to participate in the 'model solar village' programme under the PM Suryaghar scheme. Under the scheme, one village in every district is to be selected, with the expectation that the village will utilise solar power as a renewable energy source to generate the maximum energy required for its regular consumption. Villages generating excess power will receive rewards for development. People are expected to install rooftop solar panels on their homes. "We have 63 villages participating in the scheme, but they are from six districts only. Work has been completed in 14 villages. Efforts are on to find other villages in the same district or even other districts that can participate in the scheme and benefit from the 'almost free' energy for street lights, pumps for water supply, gram panchayat office, lighting in the homes and other requirements, thus making them self-reliant in power generation," said a senior MSEDCL officer from Mumbai. Regarding the failure to find such villages, the officer said a large number of villages were approached, but when it came to investment, they refused. "There are big villages that can afford the initial investment in the scheme and reap the benefits. But there are two different groups in some of the villages that are countering each other. Besides, there are other villages that cannot afford to invest, given that there is hardly any income the villages receive," said the officer. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Se você sofre com dores no joelho. Participation was from six districts: Parbhani, Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Wardha, and Gondia. In the cases of Nashik and Ahilyanagar, the officer said several villages expressed eagerness to join the scheme. Talks are going on with the locals with the help of officials, and they are hopeful of getting the villages on board for the scheme.

Doug Whaley questions Jalen Ramsey's suitability at slot corner for Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025

Doug Whaley (via Getty Images) Pittsburgh Steelers former general manager Doug Whaley is convinced teams have likely already discovered how to take advantage of their scheme for Jalen Ramsey inside. With Pittsburgh set to deploy an All-Pro-loaded secondary in 2025, Doug Whaley cautions that Jalen Ramsey's size and approach might not transition quite as well inside, possibly leaving opponents with a decisive strategic advantage. Jalen Ramsey's adaptability might prove to be a double-edged sword for the Pittsburgh Steelers With the Pittsburgh Steelers looking to have a loaded secondary with Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr., and Darius Slay, fans and coaches are hopeful about the group's capabilities. However, former Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley has some doubts regarding how Jalen Ramsey's size could be hindrance when he's lined up against more agile and speedy slot receivers. During an interview with 93.7 The Fan, Doug Whaley explained his issues with the Steelers' defensive plan: 'This is where I struggle with guys like him, Jalen Ramsey, because he's tall,' Doug Whaley said. 'Guys that are quick, and especially in that slot, they're gonna be moving, and have a two-way go against a guy whose game is predicated on length. They have long, lengthy guys that need to press and get their hands on you. As an offensive coordinator, I'm going even 10 personnel and having two slot guys. That's how I would attack the Steelers now.' Doug Whaley: Steelers considered drafting Aaron Rodgers in 2005 | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC Whaley continued that offensive coordinators could attack Jalen Ramsey by using formations such as 10 personnel with dual slot threats, putting him in challenging matchups. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Se você sofre com dores no joelho. Leia isso antes que seja deletado Vida Sem Dores Undo If opposing offenses take Whaley's counsel to heart, Pittsburgh may find offenses probing the slot frequently and early, testing Jalen Ramsey's lateral agility and reaction time. The danger, naturally, is that Ramsey's veteran experience and physical skills are still going to make him one of the toughest defenders to get around, no matter where he lines up. Also read: Taylor Swift's surprise 'Love Story' duet with George Kittle had him losing it: 'An absolute riot' The Pittsburgh Steelers might have the most skilled defensive backfield in football, but as Doug Whaley writes, even the greatest players need to be placed in positions of strength. Whether the Steelers stick Jalen Ramsey in a slot-only role or shuffle him throughout the secondary could decide how productive this overhauled unit becomes in 2025. ‘Unless you win...': Amid Bihar voter list row, Khurshid downplays protest; urges focus on winning polls

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Saturday took a different view from his party on the Bihar voter list revision, saying that the focus of the party should be on winning elections suggesting that 'unless you win, your point will not matter. ' In remarks that appear to diverge from the party's combative line, Khurshid said: 'Whoever is raising questions (on the Election Commission), let them... The reality is that, ultimately, unless you win the election, your point will not matter, so we have to try to put all our efforts into winning the elections only then will it matter.' On the Supreme Court's verdict on the electoral rolls revision in Bihar, Khurshid said, 'One should not speak on the verdict of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has given relief too in this case...' His comments come as opposition parties, especially the Congress and RJD, have been vocally critical of the EC's voter list revision, alleging that it is being used by the BJP and its allies to manipulate the electoral roll ahead of the state polls. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently led a street protest in Patna, accusing the EC of attempting to replicate what he called the 'Maharashtra model of voter list manipulation' in Bihar. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Se você sofre com dores no joelho. Leia isso antes que seja deletado Vida Sem Dores Undo Khurshid's latest remarks echo a pattern. He has previously drawn internal criticism for positions that appear at odds with the Congress high command. During the recent global outreach mission after Operation Sindoor, he praised the Modi government's efforts on Kashmir, saying Article 370 had 'given the impression that [J&K] was separate from the rest of the country' and calling the abrogation a move that ended the problem. BJP targets Cong over SIR in Bihar On Friday, the BJP hailed the Supreme Court's remarks on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar as a 'befitting reply' to opposition criticism, demanding a public apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD's Tejashwi Yadav for opposing the process. Also read: Why are you getting into citizenship issue? SC asks EC; calls it MHA's domain The apex court had ruled that the Election Commission's decision to carry out the SIR is a "constitutional mandate", allowing the revision to proceed. It also directed that Aadhaar, Voter ID, and ration cards be accepted as valid documents for the exercise. Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh noted the ruling would help prevent mass voter disenfranchisement, stating on X, 'This will save a vast majority of voters from being disenfranchised.' The BJP criticised Congress for its 'double standards', pointing out that while the party had earlier opposed linking Aadhaar to Voter IDs, some of its leaders even approaching the court over it, it is now supporting the move. 'This is called double standards,' BJP MP Sambit Patra told PTI. BJP's Gaurav Bhatia also accused the opposition of lacking faith in constitutional institutions. He called on Gandhi and Yadav to 'publicly apologise' and 'introspect', questioning their protests ahead of the court hearing.
