Indian Army honours families of Kargil bravehearts

New Delhi, June 10 (UNI) As part of a series of events spanning nearly one and a half months to commemorate the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Army on Tuesday honoured the families of 65 bravehearts, including Captain Vijayant Thapar (Vir Chakra), by visiting their homes and paying tribute to their supreme sacrifice during the war. Marking the solemn occasion, the Army stated that this initiative is a heartfelt tribute to the families of those who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. By personally visiting the homes of the martyrs, the Army aims to remind citizens of the unmatched courage and devotion displayed by these valiant soldiers in service of the nation. The Army said that army officers visited Captain Thapar's residence in Noida and met his parents and honoured them by giving a letter of thanks and a memento. Army officers also honoured the families of more than 60 other bravehearts across various parts of the country. This included the wife of Rifleman Anusuya Prasad (Vir Chakra) in Delhi, the wife of Havildar Basti Ram in Jaipur, the parents of Lance Naik Gurmel Singh in Kurukshetra, the wife of Naik Anand Singh in Vaishali Nagar, Rajasthan, and the family of Havildar Hari Om (Sena Medal) in Dehradun. On the occasion, the Army expressed its deep respect and solidarity with the families, stating, 'It is our duty and sentiment to assure them that the sacrifice of our brave soldiers has not been in vain. The families of our martyrs are not alone — the Indian Army is their family, and we stand with them always.' The Army's gesture has moved the families emotionally, reinforcing the message that the nation continues to honour and remember its heroes with pride and gratitude. These commemorative activities will continue until Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, a day etched in the memory of the nation. It marks the successful culmination of Operation Vijay in 1999, when the Indian armed forces recaptured key positions in Kargil that had been occupied by Pakistani intruders. New Delhi [India], June 10 (ANI): On the solemn occasion of the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Indian Army is paying tribute to the families of the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, according to the official statement. Visiting their homes, the Army is reminding the citizens of India of the unparalleled courage and valour displayed by these sons of the soil in the service of Mother India. According to the release, as a mark of deep respect and eternal gratitude, Indian Army officers and soldiers visited Capt Vijayant Thapar's home in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and respectfully honoured his Father, Col (Retd) V N Thapar, and mother by presenting them with a commemorative memento. The visit evoked deep emotions and immense pride among the family members. Every face glowed with honour, and the atmosphere resounded with patriotic chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. Meanwhile, the Indian Army is all set to commence a series of events commemorating the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas to honour the indomitable spirit, sacrifice and courage of the personnel who defended our borders in 1999. The commemoration will continue till July 26. Every year on July 26, India commemorates Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day etched in the Nation's heart with pride and solemn remembrance. It marks the day in 1999 when India successfully concluded Operation Vijay, reclaiming the strategic heights from Pakistani intruders. The Kargil War is a saga of strong political, military and diplomatic actions. This War will always be remembered for its strategic and tactical surprises, as well as the self-imposed national strategy of restraint in keeping the war limited to the Kargil-Siachen Sectors and the swiftly executed tri-services military strategy. This year, commemoration promises a vibrant mix of activities aimed at engaging the local communities and honouring the memories of the war Heroes, including important operations and events of the Battle. All events are meticulously planned and designed to reflect the patriotic, adventurous and cultural spirit of the Indian Army in the rugged and harsh terrain of Western Ladakh. (ANI)

Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 15 (ANI): The municipal corporation of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh is gearing up to display the victory stories of the Indian armed forces at the War Museum, which is currently under construction. The museum will also exhibit the stories of 'Indian heroes' in all major wars and terrorist operations - events from 1947 to the Pulwama terror attack. Moradabad Municipal Commissioner Divyanshu Patel informed that the civic body was constructing Kargil Vijay Smarak, Captain Vijayant Thapar's memorial, and the War Museum at the cost of Rs 25 crore, which would be inaugurated on July 4. This is being done for the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War (1999), which is scheduled to be celebrated on July 26. 'On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War (1999), the Municipal Corporation of Moradabad is constructing the Kargil Vijay Smarak, Captain Vijayant Thapar's memorial, War Museum for Rs 25 crore. It will be inaugurated on July 4, and we have planned to include events from 1947 to the Pulwama attack in it,' Patel told ANI. The municipal commissioner said the recently launched Operation Sindoor would also find a place in the museum, and a memorial for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks has also been included, in line with the theme of cultural nationalism. 'We will also include Operation Sindoor in it, and we have made constructions showcasing the achievements of Maharana Sanga, Maharana Pratap and Prithviraj Chauhan, symbols of national pride. A memorial of the 26/11 terror attack has also been included in it. The Municipal Corporation Moradabad is continuously working on the theme of cultural nationalism,' he added. The Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor in response to the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people. India struck deep into Pakistan territory on May 7 to destroy nine terror camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen. The Indian Armed Forces' precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) resulted in the elimination of high-profile terrorists affiliated with LeT and JeM, including Maulana Yusuf Azhar, wanted for the IC-814 hijacking, sources told ANI. According to sources, targets also included key figures involved in radical indoctrination, weapons training, and the coordination of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
