"There's a belief in the West that women in fewer clothes and leaders who speak less are appreciated. But I don't believe that. To me, women are forms of goddesses and should dress accordingly," he also mentioned that he often asks young women who approach him for selfies to dress "properly" next time."Sometimes girls come for selfies, and I tell them, 'Beta, come in proper clothes next time, then we'll take a photo,'" he isn't the first instance of Vijayvargiya's remarks stirring backlash. Continuing his comparison, he said: 'There's a saying in Western countries that a woman who wears fewer clothes is considered very beautiful, just as a leader who speaks less is considered good. ' Not the first time This is not the first time that Vijayvargiya has commented on the dressing choices of women. In 2024, Vijayvargiya had received widespread criticism for comparing women in 'bad dresses' to Shurpanakha – a demoness from the Ramayana. That earlier statement, made at a religious gathering in Indore, had sparked furious responses from across the political spectrum. 'We see goddess in women. But (with) the kind of bad dresses the girls wear and move around, they do not embody goddesses but look like Shurpanakha,' he had said. Govt orders probe into Turkish firm working on Indore Metro project
Indore: Amid plans to start the Indore Metro operations on May 31, Madhya Pradesh govt has ordered a probe against a Turkey-based firm — which has been assigned the contract for fare collections — to scrutinise its possible involvement in any anti-India activities . The Turkish firm Asis Elektronik ve Bilisim Sistemleri (AEBS, or Asis Electronics and Information Systems) was awarded the automatic fare collection (AFC) contract last year. There were three bidders in the technical round, and AEBS won as its bid of Rs 186.5 crore was well below MPMRCL's estimate of Rs 230 crore. Congress has raised concerns over AEBS' alleged defence ties, noting that its subsidiary, AsisGuard, manufactures drones that were used by Pakistan to target India during the recent Op Sindoor conflict. Upon discovering the Turkish firm's involvement in the Indore Metro fare collection system, Madhya Pradesh urban development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya ordered an investigation. "Nation is supreme. there is no place for anti-India mentality," he posted on X on Monday. "It's alleged that drones manufactured by Turkish company 'AsisGuard', were recently used in anti-India activities. The serious fact is that this same company 'Assis' is currently contracted for the work of a digital system in Bhopal and Indore Metro projects. In this regard, instructions have been given to officials to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation," he said. "If it is found that the company has direct or indirect links with anti-India elements or its products have been used against India's security, the company's contract will be terminated. We will not compromise with the nation's honour, security and self-respect," he added. "For us, national duty is paramount. Any kind of sympathy or cooperation with anyone who stands against India's sovereignty, no matter who he is, is intolerable," Vijayvargiya remarked. The Turkish firm has been assigned the task of designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning the Metro ticketing system. In the first phase, Indore Metro will be operational on the 6km-long 'Super Priority Corridor' that has five stations. Work on the first phase of Bhopal Metro, 7.5 km-long, is yet to be completed.
