Varanasi: ICAR-IIVR hosts 3-day grafting training for farmers from 4 states
A grafting training programme started in Varanasi. Sanjay Singh inaugurated the three-day event at ICAR-IIVR. Twenty-five farmers from different states participated. They learned about grafting techniques and seedling preparation.
VARANASI: A three-day grafting training programme conducted at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi, was inaugurated by

, Director General of Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research (UPCAR), Lucknow, on Thursday.
A total of 25 progressive farmers participated in the training, including 18 from Uttar Pradesh, 2 from Bihar, 2 from Jharkhand, and 3 from Madhya Pradesh.
During the training, participants were provided with in-depth technical knowledge on media preparation, grafting techniques, healing processes, acclimatisation, and transplanting of grafted seedlings.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Singh encouraged the participants to utilise the training knowledge to establish grafted nursery-based enterprises for higher profitability.
He emphasised the importance of vegetable seed production, low-cost grafted seedling preparation, and wider dissemination of this technique among farmers.
Parmender Singh, Deputy Director General, stressed the need to promote entrepreneurship among farmers by adopting advanced technologies in vegetable production to support the "Viksit Krishi-2047".
Rajesh Kumar
, Director of the Institute, highlighted the benefits of grafting technology, particularly in terms of disease resistance in vegetables and increased production.

He urged farmers to produce more seedlings and conduct demonstrations in their respective fields.
Detailed information about the training programme was shared by Anant Bahadur, head of the production department, who also elaborated on the technical aspects of grafting.
Nagendra Rai, head of the division of vegetable improvement, A.N. Singh, head of vegetable protection, and principal scientists Rakesh K Dubey and Govind Pal were also present on the occasion.
Following the inauguration, they, along with scientists and farmers, visited the institute's grafting facility, demonstration area, and laboratory.
