₹127.34 crore worth of development works implemented in Kadayampatti block, says Minister
In the past four years, ₹127.34 crore worth of development works were implemented in Kadayampatti block, Tourism Minister R. Rajendran said on Monday.
The Minister laid the foundation stone for 19 new scheme works at Kadayampatti town panchayat and Kadayampatti panchayat union worth ₹1.94 crore and inaugurated the works.
Speaking at the function, the minister said that adequate funds have been allotted to develop infrastructure in rural areas, including new roads, bridges, drinking water connections, and sewage channels. 'In the last four years, under schemes like the Chief Minister's Village Road Improvement Scheme, the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme, the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, a total of 3,660 projects worth ₹127.34 crore were initiated in the Kadayampatti Panchayat Union over the last four years. Of these, 3,333 projects have been completed, while work is ongoing for the remaining 327,' the minister added.
Detailing Monday's inaugurated projects, the Minister said foundation stones were laid for nine key works, including construction of a compound wall for the Poosaripatti burial ground at ₹11.42 lakh, paver block roads in Poosaripatti and Dasasamuthram at ₹32.21 lakh, and an anganwadi centre building at ₹17.25 lakh. Additionally, paver block roads will be laid in Nadupatti, Thalavaipatti, Elathur, Thirumalai Nagar, and Therkkathiyan Kadu panchayats at a cost of ₹58.90 lakh. Mr. Rajendran urged residents to make full use of these rural development schemes, which are intended to benefit farmers, workers, women, and persons with disabilities.
Salem District Collector R. Brindha Devi, Salem MP T.M. Selvaganapathi, rural development officials, local body representatives, and other departmental officials were present at the event.
