KU inks pact with Vidya Bharati to promote Indian knowledge traditions

Kurukshetra: In a move to promote India's rich intellectual and cultural traditions under the National Education Policy (NEP), Kurukshetra University (KU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Vidya Bharati Institute of Training and Research Trust, Kurukshetra. The MoU was signed by Virender Pal, Registrar, KU and Surendra Atri, North Zone Head of Vidya Bharati, during a formal event chaired by KU Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof Som Nath Sachdeva. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sachdeva congratulated both institutions and emphasized the importance of English communication skills in the modern world. Prof Sachdeva stated that this collaboration aims to foster teacher training, enhance English language proficiency among educators, and introduce students to India's ancient knowledge systems on a broader platform, while also offering an opportunity to share them globally—aligning with the broader goals of the NEP. Prof Sachdeva highlighted that this initiative reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana chief minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini, who are committed to integrating Indian knowledge systems into school and higher education. ICICI Pru Life Insurance Plan Get Quote Undo Surender Atri, North Zone Head of Vidya Bharati, remarked that the Vidya Bharati Institute of Training and Research Trust is a key unit of the Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan. The Trust focuses on teacher training, educational research, and promoting a value-based education model rooted in Indian culture and heritage. Prof Brajesh Sawhney, Chairperson, Department of English informed that this MoU will also facilitate the training of teachers from Vidya Bharati's North Zone schools in core English language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—through programmes conducted by KU's Department of English. In turn, Vidya Bharati will offer internship opportunities to KU's English students in its network of schools, providing valuable practical experience and fostering skill development. Research scholars from the English Department will also be allowed to collect data from these schools for their language-teaching research, strengthening the academic research ecosystem. Also present at the event were Prof Sunil Dhingra, Prof Pradeep Kumar, Prof Rashmi Verma, Prof Sunita Siroha, Geeta School Manager Virender Walia, Nidhi Sachchar (Principal, Vidya Bharati Institute of Training and Research), Pankaj (President, Alumni Association), and Ramendra Pratap Thakur (Manager, Vidya Bharati Institute of Training and Research).

Jun 21, 2025 07:12 AM IST Kurukshetra University on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region), Kanpur under the chairmanship of vice chancellor, Som Nath Sachdeva. Under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), students are offered apprenticeship training. (HT photo for representation) On behalf of Kurukshetra University, registrar Virender Pal and Board of Apprenticeship Training deputy director Sandeep Kumar, signed the MoU. Sachdeva said that as a part of this agreement, Kurukshetra University and the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region), Kanpur have agreed in principle to implement the apprenticeship component of the AEDP (Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme) for undergraduate programmes such as BCA, BCom (Professional), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), and BSc LLT, in accordance with UGC guidelines. He also highlighted the vital role of KU Technology Incubation Centre and Centre For Entrepreneurship and further said that internship programmes aligned with NEP-2020 have been launched to empower learners with real-world skills, making them self-reliant. Under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), students are offered apprenticeship training.
