Forget Verizon — one of my favorite cheap carriers is bringing back family plans

As the person responsible for evaluating the best phone carriers at Tom's Guide, I find that there's a lot to like about Visible, the Verizon-owned wireless service that offers lower-cost coverage on its parent company's network. But if there's a knock against Visible, it's the carrier's lack of family plans offering discounted rates when you add more lines. That's about to change later this month, as Visible announced a new Inner Circle program that allows groups of people to save money on their monthly cell phone bills. Best of all, the people included in your Inner Circle plan don't even need to be family members — anyone can link together their Visible data plans and reap the benefits of lower rates. Starting August 21, customers can pool together up to seven lines at Visible on a single account, with Visible offering discounts on its two premium plans for accounts with two or more people. With Visible Inner Circle, you can save $5 on the cost of either a Visible Plus or Visible Plus Pro plan, two unlimited data offerings that normally cost $35 and $45 a month, respectively. The standard Visible unlimited data plan keeps its $25/month cost, even on Inner Circle plans. Regular monthly cost Monthly cost with 2 or more Visible Inner Circle accounts Plan details Visible plan $25 $25 Unlimited data Visible Plus plan $35 $30 Unlimited data with no speed caps, fastest 5G service Visible Plus Pro plan $45 $40 Unlimited data with no speed caps, fastest 5G service, 4k video streaming The potential to lower the price of the Visible Plus plan via Visible's new family plan offering seems especially intriguing, since I consider Visible Plus to be the best unlimited data plan you can get right now. The regular $35 rate is already pretty low for unlimited data — it's a fraction of what you'd pay for comparable plans at AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon — and Visible stopped putting a cap on the amount of high-speed data you can enjoy with Visible Plus. Even modest savings of $5/month through Visible Inner Circle make a great plan already more appealing. Visible says that Inner Circle members can mix and match different plans. In this scenario, I could have three other people in an Inner Circle group, with one of us subscribed to the standard plan, while two others pay for Visible Plus and the fourth signs up for Visible Plus Pro. The first person would pay $25/month, the Visible Plus subscribers would pay $30 each for their service, and the Visible Plus Pro subscriber would pay $40. Visible Inner Circle family plans: Available August 21 @ VisibleStarting August 21, you'll be able to pool up to seven different lines of data in an account, with $5 monthly discounts on Visible Plus (normally $35) and Visible Plus Pro (normally $45) unlimited data plans. Each account can handle its own billing and manage its own account, giving you greater flexibility than more traditional family plans. Besides the discounted rates, the other noteworthy thing about Visible Inner Circle is the ability to add anyone — not just family members — to your family plan. That means anyone from roommates to distant relatives can pool their wireless plans together. Even though the accounts are connected, billing can be assigned separately, with each member of your Inner Circle responsible for their own plan. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. It all sounds very similar to the old Visible Party Pay program the carrier offered half a dozen years ago, where accounts could be grouped together for significant discounts. Visible dropped its Party Pay program as it expanded to offer more plan options, so it's good to see a similar program return, even if the per-line discounts are more modest this time around. The ability to create family plans that aren't necessarily restricted to family members will make the new Visible offer appealing to some customers when it debuts next week. That said, the best family cell phone plans I've found offer more significant discounts the more lines you add. For example, a four-line plan at Total Wireless — another Verizon-owned carrier — reduces the per-line cost of unlimited data to $27.50, totaling $110 per month. Still, in this day and age, flexibility counts for a lot, and Visible's soon-to-launch Inner Circle program certainly offers that to a wider audience than just immediate family members.

Visible is finally rolling out a family plan feature, well sort of

Joe Maring / Android Authority TL;DR Visible is rolling out a new 'Inner Circle' feature that links multiple accounts for easier payment and management. The feature is in Early Access and requires at least two accounts to join. You'll also have to sign a special form and wait for approval. While major discounts aren't included with these group plans, members can get $5 off Visible Plus or Plus Pro if not on another promo. For years, Visible has been one of my top recommendations for mobile service providers. After all, you get unlimited talk, text, and data on Verizon's network for a fraction of what you'd pay for postpaid. That said, one of its biggest weaknesses was the inability to manage more than one line per account. Thankfully, that's about to change. Earlier today, Visible announced on Reddit that it is introducing a new Visible Inner Circle feature that lets individual Visible accounts connect for simplified payments and management. Previously, it didn't matter if you had several lines under one roof; you'd still have to pay for each of them separately. At least for now, the feature is only available to select customers as part of its Early Access phase. To join the Visible Inner Circle, you'll need at least two existing Visible accounts and must fill out a special form first. Once submitted, you should receive an email from Visible with details on when Inner Circle will go live for your accounts. It's unclear if this will happen immediately, but it seems likely Visible will roll out Inner Circle in phases to test the feature, and so there's no guarantee you'll get approved right away. After you're successfully invited into the Visible Inner Circle, all members will still have individual access to their accounts, but you can now choose whether you're paying for the circle or being paid for by another member. While most carriers offer steep discounts on group plans, Visible already has rock-bottom pricing for single-line users, so you won't see massive savings here. That said, Inner Circle members can save an extra $5 a month on Visible Plus or Plus Pro — provided you aren't already receiving another promotion. While Visible's new Inner Circle might not be a massive game-changer per se and works a bit differently from many other family plans out there, it does at least make it a bit easier for families that want to switch to what is easily one of the best Verizon Value brands around. I've had Visible for a month, and this is the one thing I wish someone had told me before I joined

Joe Maring / Android Authority A little over a month ago, I made a big change in my cell phone world; after 10 years of being a T-Mobile customer, I jumped ship and joined Visible. Not entirely sure what to expect with such a dramatic transition, I've been very pleased with Visible so far. The sign-up process was easy, my service has been great, and I'm really happy with the price I'm paying. As well as things have gone, there has been one hiccup that I wasn't expecting. It's far from a dealbreaker, but it's something I didn't realize until after my first month with Visible — and I wish someone had told me about it sooner. Have a plan with HD video? You probably aren't using it Joe Maring / Android Authority Visible has three plans you can choose from: Visible, Visible Plus, and Visible Plus Pro. The last two plans are Visible's more premium options, offering features like faster 5G speeds, better hotspot performance, and more extensive international coverage. The plan you choose also dictates the kind of video streaming you can do on Visible's network. If you sign up for the basic Visible plan, video streaming is capped at just 480p SD. However, if you have Visible Plus or Visible Plus Pro, video streaming quality increases to 1080p HD or 4K UHD, respectively. Simple enough, right? You'd think so, but that's not all there is to it. While digging through the Visible app one day, near the end of my first month of service, I stumbled across something interesting. On the Account page under the Get the most out of Visible section, you can swipe through to see your various benefits, such as any Global Passes you have and your smartwatch service. At the end of the list is an option for HD Video. I assumed this would just be an informational page about the 4K UHD max streaming quality that comes with my Visible Plus Pro plan, but lo and behold, there was more to it — specifically, an option to enable said streaming quality. By default, Visible plans with HD/UHD video streaming quality apparently don't have this feature enabled by default. Instead, you have to manually enable it yourself … in a sub-menu buried deep in the Visible app … one that the company never tells you about. I really wish Visible had informed me about this itself. I started digging around online to see if I had somehow turned this off by mistake when setting up my account, but that's not what happened. As it turns out, a few users in the r/Visible subreddit have also reported needing to enable HD streaming for their accounts. It seems like something Visible added fairly recently (within the last six months or so), and as thankful as I was to find that Reddit thread, I really wish Visible had informed me about this itself. One of the main reasons I chose the Visible Plus Pro plan is for its 4K UHD video streaming, and to have gone a month without that because I didn't tap a toggle Visible never told me about is just silly. If you're a Visible customer, did you know about the HD Video setting? 0 votes Yes NaN % No NaN % A silly, unnecessary hoop to jump through Joe Maring / Android Authority In Visible's defense, it isn't the first carrier or MVNO to pull something like this. T-Mobile had a similar setting for my old ONE Plus plan, and Verizon and AT&T do this, too. It's annoying and unnecessary, but from the carriers' perspective, that's why they do it. They're still providing you with the high-quality video streaming you signed up for; they just aren't turning it on for you, and they're banking on the fact that you'll forget to do it or won't know how — thus saving them network resources and money in the process. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that Visible also does this (it is owned by Verizon, after all), but it feels at odds with Visible's otherwise consumer-friendly approach to almost everything else it does. I'd expect an annoying hoop like this from one of the big carriers, but part of me thought Visible would be better. But hey, maybe that's what its owner, Verizon, is banking on. If so, you got me. Going a month without the best video streaming quality is ultimately just a small bump in the road, and once I realized what I had to do, it took all of five seconds to activate my plan's HD video capabilities. No harm, no foul. Still, I would have liked to have known about this sooner. If you're thinking about joining Visible or have recently signed up, at least I can give you the heads up I wish I had gotten. Visible - Plans starting at $25 a month for a limited time! You can currently get Visible for as little as $20 a month, but only while this promo lasts

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR Right now, you can get $5 off a month for a year if you sign up for any Visible plan, bringing the starting costs down to just $20 a month. Visible works on Verizon's network and provides a similar experience to postpaid in terms of download speeds, latency, and network performance. The deal is for new customers only, but doesn't require an annual plan or any other hoops beyond adding the SAVE5 code. Visible is easily one of my favorite prepaid brands. In fact, alongside Google Fi, I tend to recommend Visible more than any other company out there. There are many reasons why I champion Visible more than most other brands, but it's mostly down to the fact that you get great pricing for truly unlimited data that's prioritized better than entry-level Verizon postpaid service. Starting at $25, it was already a steal, but right now, Visible is offering an extra $5 per month off on all three of its plans for an entire year. To be fair, Visible runs promotions like this fairly often, but its previous offer didn't apply to Visible Basic, only to the two Plus tier plans. The new SAVE5 code will let you lock in a rate that's $5 cheaper each month for an entire year, regardless of which plan you choose. For those that need a reminder, Visible normally charges $25 for Visible Basic, $35 for Visible Plus, and $45 a month for Visible Plus Pro. I already mentioned that the main benefit of Visible is that it is highly affordable and yet it gives you prioritized, truly unlimited data, which means you can use 100GB or more and typically never face any real slowdowns or other issues. Of course, there are a few other reasons, including some decent new customer phone promotions and solid international perks in its Plus tier plans. There are also some minor downsides, including limited (and online only) customer service, which makes the carrier a better fit for someone who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty a bit when it comes to solving issues. If you need handholding, Visible might be less ideal unless you have a friend or family member who is willing to help. Not sure if Visible is right for you? Want the New iPhone 16E? Join Visible+ To Get One for Free

The awaited iPhone 16E is finally here. Pre-orders started last week, but the phone officially released today, February 28. Apple claims this is an affordable iPhone option. However, even though it's less than other models, it's by no means affordable. It starts at $599 for the base model with 125GB of storage. Thankfully, despite its recent debut, there are many iPhone 16E deals you can take advantage of. One of them even gets you the phone for free. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. If you're looking to join or switch to a new phone plan, Visible by Verizon has a deal you can't pass up. New customers can enjoy the iPhone 16E for free (yes, free) when they sign up for the Visible+ plan. Visible will offer a bill credit every month for 24 months to cover the phone's cost. Just remember that this discount is only for new customers who keep Visible+ for the full 24 months, and there's a limit of one device per member. To qualify for the free iPhone 16E, you have to sign up for Visible Wireless' Visible Plus plan. For an annual plan, it costs a total of $395 or it's $35 a month when you use code 35PLUS; this will save you $10 a month. The plan offers unlimited talk, text and data, and since Visible Plus uses the 5G Ultra Wideband Verizon network, the signal will be strong. You'll even get unlimited mobile hotspot data and unlimited talk and text in Mexico and Canada and 2GB of data per day -- useful for frequent travelers. This new iPhone 16E has a four-core A18 processor and a new C1 5G modem -- the most power-efficient modem we've seen on any iPhone model to date. Like the iPhone 16 lineup, it's also designed for Apple Intelligence and even has its own button for Visual Intelligence. Apple claims the 16E has an impressive battery life that will last up to "12 hours longer than all generations of iPhone SE." The camera is also great, with a single back camera that has a 48-megapixel sensor. As for the front camera, it is 12-megapixels and supports Face ID and has autofocus for selfies. The basic model has 128GB of storage, with prices starting at $599. If this isn't the plan for you, no worries. Take a look at our full roundup of phone plan deals to better fit your needs.
