Evolve Studios has unveiled the first looks for 'Posthouse,' the feature directorial debut from Nikolas Red that recently wrapped production in Manila. The supernatural horror film, which explores the Philippines' lost silent film history through a modern ghost story, is now entering post-production with sights set on this year's festival circuit. 'We just wrapped production and are excited to finish post and find opportunities in the festival circuit. We are aiming to release this year,' revealed cult filmmaker Mikhail Red, who serves as creative producer on his brother's debut feature. The project stars Sid Lucero (Netflix's 'Outside') as Cyril and Bea Binene (Prime Video's 'Nokturno') as Rea. 'I really wanted to support Nikolas' unique and creative vision and his take on cinema heritage and horror,' Mikhail Red said. 'I saw much potential in the project after development with producer Iana Bernardez, and after we pitched it together in the Udine all genres project market of the Far East Film Festival.' Nikolas Red, previously known for his work as editor and co-writer on his brother's films, drew inspiration for 'Posthouse' from a personal experience while editing the 2018 horror film 'Eerie' and his research into the Philippines' lost cinematic heritage. 'I wanted to make a horror film set in a posthouse because of something that happened to me — while editing the feature film 'Eerie,' a horror film, I came across an outtake that deeply disturbed me. That moment never left me, and it planted the seed for this story,' the first-time director explained. 'I fell into researching lost silent films and was struck by the fact that none of the Philippines' silent films have survived. That grief — over a vanished cultural memory — became central to the narrative. In a way, this film is my love letter to the ghosts of our cinematic heritage,' Nikolas Red added. 'Posthouse' is produced by Iana Bernardez with Mikhail Red serving as creative producer. The film is a co-production between Evolve Studios, Studio Viva, and Viva Films. The project has gethered significant development support through its journey, beginning at the NAFF Fantastic Film School (2020) where the concept was first developed. It later advanced through Full Circle Lab Philippines (2022) with backing from the Film Development Council of the Philippines. That same year, 'Posthouse' gained international recognition at the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) at BIFAN 2022, securing both the VIPO Award and Asian Discovery Award, which included approximately $15,000 in project funding.
