Prime Video snags a helluva lot of Hazbin Hotel-adjacent Helluva Boss

Amazon's Prime Video is descending deeper into hell, as the studio announced today that it's snatched up a second existing series set in the universe of Vivienne Medrano's Hazbin Hotel: Helluva Boss. As with Hazbin, an animated musical comedy set in a hotel in hell, the series originally debuted on Medrano's YouTube channel, before the Bezos money came floating in to share the fun with Prime's servers. (Amazon snatched up Hazbin after a pilot, while Helluva has run for two seasons on the channel.) In addition to being schlorped up into the Prime-a-verse, Helluva has also now been renewed for a third and fourth season. Oh, and Medrano has closed a first-look deal with Prime, so, yeah, they're clearly pretty into this whole 'wacky, sexy, funny version of damnation' stuff. Helluva centers itself on the I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals), a crew of demonic assassins who kill people on Earth while operating out of hell. The series stars Brandon Rogers, Grey's Anatomy alum Vivian Nixon, and animated voice mainstay Richard 'Invader Zim' Horvitz as the main component of its crew of hellish killers, who execute sociopathic murders, and also sometimes sing. Amazon announced the news with a trailer that gave us a headache, but which will probably delight fans, including Rogers' character asking the immortal question 'You thought The Hashbrown Hotel was the only Hell show that Daddy Amazon was horny for?' That includes laying out that episodes of the show will now debut on Prime Video, and then arrive a month or so later on their old home on YouTube. (Also, this counts as official confirmation that the two series exist in the same universe, with lots of promises of crossovers and overlaps.) The trailer is also quick to confirm that Medrano retains full creative control and final cut on the series, because, honestly, why wouldn't she: Hazbin has been a massive success for Amazon, so audiences are clearly responding to her style. Helluva Boss joins Hazbin Hotel on Prime Video with two new seasons: Here's what we know

Helluva Boss release update: The chaotic, irreverent world of Helluva Boss is growing, and getting a new home. The hit animated series has officially been picked up for two more seasons and will now premiere on Prime Video, marking a major shift for the once indie web series. From YouTube hit to Prime Video Originally released on YouTube by creator Vivienne Medrano, Helluva Boss quickly became a cult favourite for its bold animation style, sharp humour, and dark fantasy themes. While fans have been enjoying the show online for years, its move to Prime Video signals a new phase in its journey, from grassroots project to a major streaming title. The upcoming third and fourth seasons will debut exclusively on Prime Video, although earlier episodes will still remain available on YouTube for long-time followers. Additionally, the first two seasons of Helluva Boss are set to arrive on Prime Video this fall. This hybrid approach keeps the show rooted in its origins while opening it up to a broader audience. About Helluva Boss Helluva Boss is an adult animated musical comedy series created by Vivienne Medrano. Set in the same world as Hazbin Hotel, the show follows the wild adventures of the employees at I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals), a company in Hell that offers assassination services to clients in the living world. The story focuses on Blitzo (pronounced "Blitz"), the quirky boss of I.M.P., and his team: Moxxie, a careful weapons expert; Millie, Moxxie's lively wife and the team's muscle; and Loona, their grumpy hellhound receptionist. With the help of a magical book borrowed from the demon prince Stolas, they travel to Earth to complete their missions. Together, the two shows form what's often referred to by fans as the "Hellaverse" a shared world filled with eccentric demons, emotional twists, and wild musical numbers. Their overlap has allowed for subtle connections and character crossovers that deepen the lore and reward dedicated viewers. 'Continued rise of indie animation' Behind both shows is Vivienne Medrano, whose unique voice and vision have reshaped how indie animation is perceived. With a new first-look deal at Prime Video, she's now set to develop even more animated projects for the platform, continuing to blend dark storytelling with offbeat humour and striking visuals. "I'm so excited for what this means for the continued rise of Indie animation! It's a dream come true to be able to tell these stories, and I truly can't wait for you to see what we have planned!" she said.
