Lokesh vows to transform AP with ‘double engine' governance
1 2 3 4 Guntur: Urging the youth to follow Mahatma Gandhi's advice — "Be the change you wish to see in the world" — IT and HRD minister Nara Lokesh said the state govt, under the leadership and vision of chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, is working with the same spirit and commitment to transform Andhra Pradesh into a developed state. Lokesh hoisted the Tricolour at the police parade grounds to mark the 79th Independence Day celebrations on Friday, and took the guard of honour. Addressing the gathering, he said Andhra Pradesh witnessed "dark days" from 2019 to 2024. "The previous govt accumulated ₹10 lakh crore in debt, pushing the state back by 30 years. Development lost its track during their regime. People created history with a 94% strike rate in 2024, giving 164 seats to the NDA, breaking all records and establishing a people's govt," he said. With chief minister Naidu's vision being a constant guiding force in taking up revolutionary decisions, the double-engine govt has guided the state from darkness to light, Lokesh said. "The Centre has provided funds for the construction of Amaravati as the capital and for Polavaram project. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi's support, the govt was also able to save Vizag Steel Plant and establish the railway zone in Visakhapatnam. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Find your car's value online in minutes. Vizag Steel Plant to privatise firefighting services, invites contract
1 2 Visakhapatnam: The management of Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) has decided to privatise its firefighting, prevention, and rescue services, and has issued an expression of interest (EOI) for the same. This move follows earlier decisions by VSP to privatise the Sinter Plant and the Raw Material Handling Plant (RMHP). Until now, the firefighting wing has been managed by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The plant currently operates three fire stations and employs 13 firefighters, with around 282 permanent staff in total. The management had initially planned to induct personnel from the Andhra Pradesh State Police to replace the CISF staff. However, sources reveal there was no response from the state police, and the CISF has reportedly opposed the idea of working alongside AP Police. VSP's firefighting wing is known for its efficiency and modern equipment. Its personnel are often the first responders to fire incidents in pharmaceutical and industrial areas within a 70 km radius. The last date for submission of tenders is 3 pm on July 14, and tenders will be opened on July 15. The revised offer validity is set until Nov 14, 2025. The estimated value of the tender for providing firefighting, prevention, and rescue services at the plant over a 24-month period is Rs 18.24 crore.
