Contemporary art show in Mumbai to explore truth and perception
Artwork by Sumakshi Singh
Following the success of its March-April edition,
Voir Dire – Part II
opens to the public on June 12 at Anupa Mehta Contemporary Art gallery in Colaba. Curated by Anupa Mehta, this group exhibition deepens its investigation into the themes of truth, perception, materiality, and nature.
Featuring contemporary artists such as Madhvi Subrahmanian, Sumakshi Singh, Deepak Kumar, Vibha Galhotra, Priyanka Shah, and Chandrashekhar Koteshwar, the show challenges viewers to consider how truth is constructed and revealed through artistic expression.
Derived from an Old French phrase meaning 'truth telling,'
Voir Dire
borrows from legal language to frame art as a process of uncovering hidden realities. The works on display reflect a range of materials and forms, each inviting contemplation on authenticity, illusion, and our relationship with the natural world.
Due to be exhibited between June 12 and July 11, the exhibition also marks a new direction for the gallery, with a focus on curated group shows that spotlight the evolving language of Indian contemporary art.
