Sidharth Malhotra's Vvan Director Quits After Creative Differences? Latter Reacts

Last Updated: Sidharth Malhotra's upcoming film Vvvan faced rumours of director Deepak Kumar Mishra's exit over creative differences. These rumours have now been dismissed. There's been a lot of talk around Sidharth Malhotra's upcoming film Vvan, a mythological supernatural thriller set in the heartlands of India. Earlier this month, reports claimed that director Deepak Kumar Mishra was removed from the film due to creative differences with Sidharth. Some even said the film might now be directed by a new filmmaker along with Arunabh Kumar. However, Deepak has denied all of it. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, he said, 'I don't have any such information. Nothing has happened. This is out of the blue. I just want to state that nothing has happened. Sidharth and I are very strong. We are jamming so well and working hard on the film. It is 100 per cent false." Despite his clarification, some reports, like one from PeepingMoon, still claim that Deepak was dropped from the project because he and Sidharth didn't agree on the film's creative direction. Their disagreements reportedly began during the planning stage. The report claimed that Sidharth and the director struggled to see eye-to-eye on key creative elements of Vvan. Their differences reportedly intensified during pre-production meetings, which is believed to have led to the director's rumoured departure from the project. The first schedule of Vvan was completed in June, and the next is expected to start in August. Vvan, a joint production by TVF and Balaji Motion Pictures, was originally set to begin filming earlier this year. However, the shoot was reportedly pushed back due to scheduling conflicts with Sidharth Malhotra and the exit of Sara Ali Khan, who was initially in talks for the female lead. Eventually, Tamannaah Bhatia came on board, and the team later announced a new release date, moving the film from its planned Chhath Puja 2025 slot to May 15, 2026. For now, Deepak Kumar Mishra remains officially attached to the project. Meanwhile, on the work front, Sidharth Malhotra is gearing up for the release of Param Sundari, where he stars opposite Janhvi Kapoor. The film is slated to hit theatres on July 25 and will face a box office clash with Son of Sardaar 2. First Published: June 29, 2025, 09:27 IST
