Hemachandran murder case: one more suspect nabbed from Wayanad

The special investigation team formed by the Kozhikode city police has arrested one more person allegedly having direct involvement in the Hemachandran murder case. V.V. Vysakh, 35, was nabbed from Wayanad on Thursday (July 3) after the police gathered scientific evidence about his alleged connections with the other partners in the crime. Jyothish Kumar, 32, and B. S. Ajesh, 27, were the other two suspects arrested earlier in connection with the incident. The police sources said Vysakh, an interior designer from Nadavayal in Wayanad district, was a close friend of Jyothish Kumar, and he took part in secretly burying the body of Hemachandran, who was allegedly abducted and murdered following some financial deals. They said legal measures were under way to extradite the prime suspect, identified as Noushad, from Saudi Arabia to India. It was on June 28 that the police cracked the mysterious murder case, which was initially registered as a case of a man missing at the Kozhikode Medical College police station. The special investigation team zeroed in on the suspects after a 16-month-long investigation with the support of the Kozhikode city cyber cell and crime squad. Hemachandran was a Wayanad native who was temporarily settled at Mayanad in Kozhikode city for his private chit fund business. The special investigation team found that he was abducted from Kozhikode city on March 20, 2024, and later murdered in Wayanad following some financial disputes. The recovery of the secretly buried body from Cherambadi forest in Tamil Nadu last week was a major breakthrough for the squad in their investigation. Though the prime suspect claimed it was a case of suicide in a newly released Facebook video from Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (July 2), police officers associated with the probe refused to make any comment. They said a look-out notice had already been issued against him, and more details of the crime based on the post-mortem report and other scientific evidence would come to light soon.

Cop arrested for secretly capturing images of female colleague in Idukki

Kochi: Cyber police in Idukki have arrested a civil police officer attached to Vandiperiyar Police station on charges of surreptitiously capturing images of a woman colleague changing clothes in the restroom at the station. According to police, the accused, K Vysakh, 39, used a mobile phone and another device to capture the image of the woman colleague after placing it in the restroom and toilet assigned for women. Police said the accused was capturing images of the complainant for the past five to eight months. Vysakh allegedly made overtures towards the woman colleague, but she refused to accept them. The complainant even blocked his number. However, Vysakh called her from another phone and sent her an edited video of her changing clothes in the restroom. Panicked over this, the complainant asked him to delete the video and filed a complaint with the district police in Idukki. After an FIR was registered on Wednesday night, Vysakh was suspended from service. Police seized the mobile phones and the device used for capturing the images of the 34-year-old complainant.
