India can lead in AI and entertainment: Maha CM Fadnavis
Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) With Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology education city set to come up in Navi Mumbai, India will get the opportunity to lead the world in the 'AI' and entertainment sector, asserted Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday.
Fadnavis was interacting with media representatives at the Maharashtra Pavilion during the WAVES Conference .
Fadnavis said there was a need for a platform like the WAVES Conference at the global level.
Recognising the need, Prime Minister Narendra Modi organised the first Waves Conference and gave Maharashtra the responsibility of hosting to Maharashtra. This is a big opportunity for the state.
On the occasion of the WAVES Conference, the Maharashtra government has signed some very important MoUs. The most important of these is the launch of the Waves Index by NSE. 43 companies are in the audio-visual sector, the index of these companies has been launched. Therefore, this is a very important step to invest in this sector and create an overall financial ecosystem, he said.
Stating that MoUs have been signed today with two world-class universities, Australia and New York, Chief Minister Fadnavis said that under the new education policy, foreign universities have been allowed to open their centres in the country and an Educity will be set up in Navi Mumbai on the initiative of CIDCO. 10 to 12 world-class universities will start their campuses in this Educity.
An MoU has been signed with two of these universities. Initially, an investment of Rs 1.5 thousand crores will be made. But this investment will increase in the future. Discussions are underway with three more important universities.
The first campus of a global university in the country is being started in Navi Mumbai, he added.
Along with this, an MoU has been signed with Prime Focus for building a film city here, in which it will invest about Rs 3,000 crore and at least 10,000 people will get employment.
A MoU has also been signed with Godrej for an investment of Rs 2,000 crore to set up a film industry in Panvel.
Chief Minister Fadnavis also said that total MoU worth Rs 8,000 crore has been signed.
