Fever Cut Caitlin Clark's Rookie Teammate Ahead of Season Start
The Indiana Fever tip off the 2025 WNBA regular season on May 17 against the Chicago Sky, which means they'll need to finalize their roster by then, with no more than 12 players allowed under league rules. However, due to salary cap constraints, the Fever are expected to carry just 11 early on in the season. After starting training camp on April 27 with 15 players, tough decisions were inevitable. Advertisement They've already waived guard Bree Hall, the No. 20 overall pick in last month's WNBA draft, along with forward Jillian Alleyne, who was on a training camp contract. Rebilas And on Wednesday, the Fever parted ways with rookie forward Yvonne Ejim to trim the roster to 12. "we have waived forward Yvonne Ejim," the Fever announced on social media. "thank you, Yvonne." Ejim was drafted in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft out of Gonzaga. She spent five seasons in Spokane, Washington, where she had a career avaerged of 14.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Timpson has received high praise from Fever head coach Stephanie White during her short time in Indiana. Advertisement "The thing that impresses me the most about KK (Timpson) is just her poise," White said. "She doesn't get rushed. She stays patient. If she doesn't know what to do, she doesn't get antsy. And that's something you can't teach, and I'm really impressed with that. Her activity level is really good on the defensive end of the floor. I think that when you look at her, and you watch her in college, you know she really is just scratching the surface of her ability." Nets sign former college hoops star Drew Timme to deal
While the season is nearly over for the Nets, their final nine games on the schedule will serve as a well-earned showcase for a recent college basketball sensation. The team announced a contract with former Gonzaga star Drew Timme on Friday, in a move that can be aptly labeled as a promotion. The 24-year-old center had been thriving in the G League as a member of the Long Island Nets, and his efforts didn't go unnoticed. Earlier this week, Timme was named G League Player of the Week, after dropping a career-high 50 points in a win last Saturday and a league-best 107 points total across three contests. In 29 G League games this season, he's averaged 23.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists with 18 doubles-doubles. Advertisement Timme, assuming the 15th and final roster spot in Brooklyn, is remembered for his run of college success with Gonzaga (2019-2023). He was a three-time All-American, who led the Bulldogs to three Sweet 16 apperances and one national title game. He also received WCC Player of the Year honors twice and left the program as its all-time leading scorer. The college-level dominance didn't captivate enough NBA scouts, however. Timme went undrafted in 2023, and ultimately signed with the Milwaukee Bucks and joined their G League affiliate. After suffering a broken foot in February 2024, he joined the Sacramento Kings' affiliate and eventually landed with the Nets via trade in late December.

Gonzaga beats No. 19 Saint Mary's 58-51 to capture West Coast Conference Tournament title
The metrics — and oddsmakers — indicated Gonzaga was far better than its record, and there was little doubt the Bulldogs had the ability to once again compete at a high level. Maybe it was simply a matter of timing. Braden Huff scored 18 points in just his second start of the season as Gonzaga avenged two regular-season losses to Saint Mary's, beating the 19th-ranked Gaels 58-51 in the West Coast Conference Tournament championship on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs (25-8) secured the WCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, though both teams were safely in the field regardless of the outcome. "We've had an inordinate amount of one-possession games," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. "I think that's why we're such an interesting seed going into this NCAA Tournament. I think we were 350th in luck in Kenpom. We've had more banked 3s on us than I could ever, ever remember in my entire career. "Whether it's law of averages coming through or just a little resiliency ... or maybe it's just desperation by some seniors who don't want this thing to end." The Bulldogs also got some measure of revenge for losing to the Gaels in last year's title game, which ended Gonzaga's run of four conference championships and 10 of 11. Gonzaga also extended its national record to 18 consecutive 25-win seasons. Saint Mary's (28-5) had its seven-game winning streak stopped. The Gaels also had won 17 of 18 games. "We've had a great year," Saint Mary's coach Randy Bennett said. "We did not play well tonight." Khalif Battle scored 14 points for the Zags, Graham Ike added 11 and Ryan Nembhard had 10. Mitchell Saxen led Saint Mary's with 20 points but scored only six after halftime. Two-time WCC Player of the Year Augustas Marciulionis finished with 12 points. Saint Mary's was attempting to become the first team since San Diego in 1996-97 to beat Gonzaga three times in a season. But Gonzaga entered the game with the higher Kenpom rating, ninth to 22nd for the Gaels, and was a 3 1/2-point favorite at BetMGM Sportsbook. "You've got to go through some hardships in order to win," Battle said. "We've been practicing for this moment. I think we were prepared more than ever going into this tournament, so I'm happy we were able to hoist the trophy." Takeaways Gonzaga: The Bulldogs committed just four turnovers while forcing 18 that included two shot-clock violations in the closing minutes. Saint Mary's: The Gaels are the first ranked team since No. 25 Texas A&M in 2011 to go at least 0 for 16 from 3-point range and commit 18 or more turnovers. Key moment Marciulionis' layup with 15:09 left brought Saint Mary's within a point, but the Gaels went the next 7:36 without a field goal as Gonzaga built a 48-42 lead. Key stats The teams combined to shoot 1 of 31 on 3-pointers, the third-worst combined percentage in any game over the past 20 years. Saint Mary's went 0 for 16. Up next Both teams will find out their NCAA Tournament seeds and destinations on Sunday.
