July 18 South Africa (Fairview) form guide
Race 1 (1,000m)
(2) BUDDLEJA has run well in two of her three starts. This looks a very weak race form-wise and she may well be the best of them.
(3) JUST ONE KISS flopped on her debut but did have betting support, so could bounce back to score this time around.
(5) SALAGADOOLA has only been modest so far but can contest the finish.
(1) BAABOOO is making her debut and would not be a surprise winner.
Race 2 (1,000m)
(2) FLIGHT ENGINEER has been a disappointment of late but this is an ideal opportunity to get a first win. He did not run too badly earlier this week.
(1) BROOKSIDER has been a disappointment of late but does have a winning chance.
(7) IVY is speedy when in the mood and one of these days she may keep rolling out in front.
Stable companion (4) STAND UP showed improvement last time and should have more to offer.
Race 3 (1,400m)
(6) WILD FIG went too quickly for her own good last time and did well to cling on for a place. If given a more patient ride she can make amends for her supporters.
(1) PYRO EDITION showed improvement last time and can have more to offer trying the Polytrack.
(7) BIRD ON A WING and (8) GO DANCING both make their local debuts and are capable of improvement.
Race 4 (1,400m)
(2) COASTAL PATH is very consistent and should make a bold bid at beating these rivals.
(9) FLOWER FESTIVAL is consistent and can get involved with the finish gain.
(7) ROTOTO showed improvement on this surface and could be a threat once again.
(5) GUARDING THE WALL benefited from a good ride when allowed a soft lead and could be a threat if given that same luxury this time.
Race 5 (1,000m)
(1) PARIS LASS is very speedy and is coming off a good win. She can make all the running when at her best.
(2) ELLORIX did not show her best last time but beat that rival and can be a serious challenger.
(6) GOLDEN PAVILION has been in very good form of late and should be right there at the finish going 1,000m this time.
(7) CROWNED HORNBILL flopped on local debut and is trying the Polytrack but can win on his best form.
Race 6 (1,200m)
(4) SMASHING has been consistent since joining trainer Alan Greeff. She is well drawn and has a big winning chance with Richard Fourie in the saddle.
(5) SWEET JULIA was ahead of that rival when they last met but has a tricky draw.
(3) MARSHMALLOW returns from a break but does like this surface and is not out of it.
(6) AIR BORN LADY seems beter than her last run.
Race 7 (1,600m)
(4) FAMILY POWER impressed on local debut. This will be her debut on Polytrack and she could have more wins in her based on that performance.
(1) BOSNAY does not always show her best but she certainly did last time and deserves respect for that win.
(3) TREASURE HUNT likes this surface and can contest the finish.
(7) ARABIAN RED has been a flop of late but does like this surface and is not out of it.
Race 8 (2,000m)
(4) BEER WITH THE BOYS could win this race. He has yet to run on the Poly but is competitive and can beat these rivals.
(3) DARLING HARBOUR has improved of late and should be right there at the finish.
(8) TAKE YOUR TIME is in very good form and can contest the finish yet again.
(10) MOTHERSHIP tends to lack a strong finish but is capable of playing a minor role.
