Broncos' projected wide receiver depth chart for 2025 and beyond
Courtland Sutton's secured.
The Denver Broncos officially announced on Monday that Sutton has signed a four-year contract extension. The team has now secured quarterback Bo Nix's favorite target for 2025 early in training camp.
Sutton is the team's obvious WR1, but how does the receiver depth chart look behind him?
Entering his second season, Devaughn Vele is probably the favorite for WR2 duties, but third-round draft pick Pat Bryant will be competing to quickly win playing time this summer.
Marvin Mims is a do-everything weapon for Denver's offense, and he's probably best suited to play in a slot/WR role. Troy Franklin is likely competing for snaps at the same position.
Trent Sherfield was added to the mix this spring, but his biggest contributions will presumably come on special teams. The Broncos also have a pair of veterans in A.T. Perry (who is nursing an ankle injury) and Michael Bandy (who spent all of last season on the practice squad). At the bottom of the projected WR depth chart, Denver has four undrafted free agent additions.
The year that each player is scheduled to become a free agent is listed in parentheses. For example, Sutton is signed through the 2029 season, so he's set to become a free agent in the spring of 2030.
Broncos projected WR depth chart
WR1: Courtland Sutton (2030)
WR2: Devaughn Vele (2028) / Pat Bryant (2029)
Slot: Marvin Mims (2027) / Troy Franklin (2028)
ST: Trent Sherfield (2027)
Veteran depth: A.T. Perry (2026) / Michael Bandy (2026)
UDFAs: Joaquin Davis (2028), Kyrese Rowan (2028), Courtney Jackson (2028), Jerjuan Newton (2028)
Not a bad group of receivers, especially when you account for tight end Evan Engram joining the offense. All five of the team's (projected) top receivers are signed through at least 2026, so Nix should be able to build great chemistry with the team's core group. Nix and his teammates are set to face the San Francisco 49ers in the Broncos' preseason opener on Aug. 9 (view the full preseason schedule).
