Following his address as the new champion, he was taken down by his iconic foe, Randy Orton, with an RKO. The duo met again on SmackDown, where a war of words led to a match between them being made official for WWE Backlash 2025. The night's first bout saw Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria defend their WWE Women's Tag Team titles against Judgment Day.
