Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter Completes 43 Life-Saving Missions In June

Press Release – Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter WWRH Ruapuke rescue (Photo/Supplied) The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter carried out 43 life-saving missions across the Waikato, King Country, and Coromandel regions throughout June. These missions included 26 inter-hospital transfers, two medical events, three rural/farm incidents, six motor vehicle accidents and six miscellaneous missions. The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was frequently seen in the Coromandel area due to the high number of medical emergencies in locations such as Paeroa, Whangamata and the Coromandel Airfield. The month began with the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter being dispatched to Ruapuke for a male who sustained injuries in a sport-related incident. The patient was stabilised on scene for approximately an hour before being airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. On Monday morning, June 2nd, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Auckland City Hospital for a female who was suffering from a health condition. The patient was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. On Thursday evening, June 5th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to Whangamata for a female who had sustained injuries to her head. The patient was airlifted to Waikato Hospital to receive further treatment. On Saturday afternoon, June 7th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Ngaroma for a female who had sustained trauma injuries. The patient was stabilised on scene and flown to Waikato Hospital for further urgent treatment. On Sunday afternoon, June 8th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to Te Akau after being dispatched to assist a male who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was treated on scene and airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further urgent care. On Friday afternoon, June 13th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Te Aroha for a female who was in critical condition following a serious motor vehicle accident. The patient was stabilised on scene for 30 minutes before being airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. On Sunday evening, June 15th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Te Kuiti for a female who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was treated on scene before being swiftly flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. On Monday afternoon, June 16th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the Coromandel airfield for a male who was experiencing a medical event. The patient was airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. On Thursday evening, June 19th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Thames Hospital for a male who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was swiftly flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. On Saturday afternoon, June 21st, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to Kawau Island after being dispatched to assist a female who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was flown to North Shore Hospital to receive further medical treatment. On Sunday afternoon, June 22nd, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Taneatua for a male who had sustained critical injuries following a motor vehicle accident. The patient was treated on scene and then airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. Then that evening, the rescue helicopter crew flew to Paeroa Domain for a male who was in critical condition. The patient was flown to Waikato Hospital to receive further treatment. A third mission was performed later that evening, with the rescue helicopter being tasked to Awhitiu for a male who had sustained significant injuries following a motor vehicle accident. The patient was flown to Auckland City Hospital to receive further care. In the early hours of Thursday morning, June 26th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to Taumarunui Hospital after being tasked to assist a female who was suffering from a serious medical event. the patient was flown swiftly to Waikato Hospital to receive further urgent treatment. The month ended with a mission on Sunday morning, June 29th, where the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Tokoroa for a female who was in serious condition.
