Multi-agency effort assist in arrest of wanted fugitive in Walton County
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A coordinated effort with the Walton County Sheriff's Office Intelligence Unit, patrol deputies and surrounding agencies led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive on Thursday, June 5.
According to a news release, at around 3:45 p.m., the Walton County Sheriff's Office received a BOLO alert for Bay County for 34-year-old Derron Lanell Skinner.
Deputies said he was believed to be driving towards Walton County. Skinner was wanted on multiple charges, including a federal warrant for ATM bank burglary.
The WCSO Intelligence Unit quickly identified the suspect's vehicle as a black Range Rover with Texas plates. Deputies were able to quickly locate the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 20.
Deputies intercepted the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 331 and Highway 20 in Freeport.
After confirming the Texas license plate and vehicle description, WCSO deputies executed a felony stop and took Skinner into custody without incident.
Skinner was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail, where he remains in custody pending extradition by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Jacksonville, Florida.
