A "deeply loved" grandfather who died following a motorbike crash has been described by his family as "a kind and generous soul".Bernard Payne suffered a medical episode before falling from his Honda motorcycle on Victoria Road in Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, at about 14:45 BST on Monday, Lancashire Police 69-year-old died in hospital the next day "surrounded by his family".Mr Payne, who had eight grandchildren, will be "greatly missed [and] leaves behind a space no-one else can ever fill", his family said in their tribute. They said he was "a devoted husband to his late wife Susan"."Bernard's life was shaped by love, loyalty and family" and he was "the steady presence everyone could count on"."His passion for motorbikes was only matched by the love he had for his family."Police have thanked members of the public who assisted with first aid at the scene. Driver, 20, admits causing baby boy's death after car hit pregnant mum

A driver who hit a pregnant woman on a pedestrian crossing has admitted to causing the death of her baby by dangerous Police said the baby boy had to be delivered in an emergency operation but died later in hospital when Ashir Shahid, 20, hit his mother in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire on 29 September mum-to-be, who was in her 30s , was struck on Station Road close to the junction with Longbrook Avenue and Fourfields shortly before 20:00 was left with serious injuries and is still recovering after treatment in hospital, a police spokesman said. Shahid, of Windsor Road, Walton le Dale, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday. A 16-year-old boy, from Walton le Dale, appeared in the dock alongside Shahid on Wednesday and admitted assisting an was remanded into custody to be sentenced on 14 August at the same court, when the 16-year-old will also be sentenced.
