When one thinks of some of the elite defensive players in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history, most analysts will quickly think of Hall of Famers like Warren Sapp, Ronde Barber, and Derrick Brooks.

However, no one holds a candle to Lavonte David in the current era.
The former second-round pick has been with the team for 13 years. David won a Super Bowl, has been to a Pro Bowl, and is one of the more underrated linebackers in the sport.
As he prepares for his 14th season with the team, David knows how rare his career truly is.
Speaking as a guest star on the Up & Adams show with host Kay Adams, David talked about how blessed he truly is.
"It feels great, and it feels like an accomplishment, honestly, to have had the opportunity to play this game for 14 years," said David. "I never thought I would be in this position, first and foremost. I thought I would be long gone by now, but it is here. Thank God, and thank the Bucs for keeping me around. It is definitely a blessing."

As things stand, David is not the longest-tenured Buccaneers player in team history. That record belongs to Barber, who has 16 seasons. The 14 years will match Brooks, though.
David's comparison with one of the best linebackers in the sport is a good reminder of how strong he has been.
And how lucky the Buccaneers are to have him for another year.
