Liverpool transfer stance on Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace face two options

Liverpool have been offered encouragement in their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi after the England international made his stance clear on his future Liverpool are interested in Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi - but only if the price is right. The England international is ready to leave Selhurst Park this summer. Guehi, 24, has just one year left on his deal with the FA Cup winners and is attracting attention from a number of Premier League clubs. Both the Reds and Arsenal are admirers, while Newcastle United have a long-standing interest. ‌ Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell Jarrell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for an initial £30million. The England Under-21 international made 25 appearances in all competitions last term, but only made five Premier League starts, with only one of those - at Ipswich on opening day - coming before the title had been won. ‌ Quansah, currently with the England Under-21s at the European Championships in Slovakia, will complete his move to Germany when his participation at the tournament is over. Liverpool bosses are keen for Quansah to go and get regular football, which will be on offer under new Bayer boss Erik ten Hag, with the Warrington-born defender set to replace Jonathan Tah, who joined Bayern Munich. Interestingly, Liverpool have negotiated a buy-back clause in the deal. But it leaves the champions, who have already splashed a potential British record £116m on Florian Wirtz and a further £29m apiece on Jeremie Frimpong and Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili - with £40m Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez to come - actively looking to bolster their centre-back ranks. With Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk both in situ as the club's first choice partnership, the priority is a young centre-back with high potential. It has been a similar case in each of the last two summers, with Chelsea's Levi Colwill targeted in 2023 after impressing on loan at Brighton, and Leny Yoro emerging last summer before joining Manchester United. Dean Huijsen was of interest this summer before heading to Real Madrid for £50m instead. However, Guehi offers an intriguing alternative. While he doesn't exactly fit the mould of a young centre-back - given he turns 25 next month, boasts a wealth of Premier League experience and is already a senior England international - the Reds are keeping an eye on developments with the ex-Chelsea man. Given his quality, leadership capabilities, homegrown status and the uncertainty of Konate's long-term future - his contract is up next summer too - he certainly fits the bill. ‌ Much of whether he ends up at Anfield will depend on Palace. They rejected four offers from Newcastle last summer, with figures hitting in excess of £60m. That's a number Liverpool don't want to go to - particularly with the prospect of getting him for nothing in 12 months time. With an extension very unlikely, Palace must either sell now or face losing him for nothing in 2026. ‌ The Eagles are negotiating a deal with Sporting Lisbon - potentially heading towards the £40m mark - for Ousmane Diomande as a potential replacement, but head coach Oliver Glasner wouldn't mind having both available as they look to balance the Premier League and European football next season. As such, Palace and Guehi are waiting to see what offers come their way. And while Guehi is understood to be keen on a move to the champions, he's also aware that he needs to be playing regularly ahead of the World Cup next summer. Advertisement Liverpool won their second title of the Premier League era last month and have moved quickly to strengthen their hand ahead of what looks certain to be a challenging title defence. Ex-Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso has moved on from his role as Leverkusen manager and Liverpool have already raided his former club twice since the end of the 2024/25 season. The Premier League champions were able to quickly wrap up the acquisition of rampaging right-back Jeremie Frimpong and in-demand midfield man Florian Wirtz is expected to follow. Advertisement It's been widely reported that Wirtz will move to Anfield for a Premier League record fee in the region of £116 million, with an agreement already reached between the clubs. Arne Slot and Liverpool have been watching Leverkusen closely | Credit: Getty Images Now, the two teams are reportedly in discussions over a possible move in the other direction: centre-back Jarell Quansah is currently at the European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia with Lee Carsley's England team, who will face Spain in the quarter-finals on Saturday. With his Premier League minutes limited and Arne Slot's defensive preference locked in, the 22-year-old is believed to be a target for new Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag. Advertisement Kicker have noted that Die Schwarzroten could even table a record offer in order to secure the defender, with Kerem Demiray the club's record signing for €28-32 million. 'Leverkusen have taken a liking to Jarell Quansah, and they may use the goodwill built up with Liverpool to agree a quick, simple and peaceful deal,' reports the Express. Jarell Quansah | Credit: Getty Images 'However, even in spite of nabbing two of the German side's best players in the early stages of the summer, the Reds are reluctant to let Quansah go on the cheap.' The Reds are apparently willing to hold out for £40m before letting Warrington-born Quansah leave Anfield despite the fact that he's started only 17 league games for Liverpool since his senior debut at the outset of 2023/24. Advertisement There's no real incentive for Liverpool to sell Quansah. He's still learning his trade and offers useful back-up to Slot's preferred duo of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate along with Joe Gomez. Van Dijk is still leading by example as Liverpool's captain and tying him down to a new contract this year was a crucial step towards mounting a formidable title defence but he is 33 years of age and his team will need depth now and a replacement in the future.

Liverpool change Jarell Quansah transfer stance after Arne Slot decision

Jarell Quansah has had to settle for limited game-time this season but was handed a long-term contract by Liverpool in the early days of Arne Slot's reign as manager Liverpool aren't ruling out selling Jarell Quansah less than a year after he signed a new long-term contract. Quansah, 22, has only started seven games for the Reds since the turn of the year, the last five of which have been defeats. The defender made his breakthrough last season under Jurgen Klopp and new manager Arne Slot gave him a start in his very first game at newly-promoted Ipswich Town in August. Unfortunately for Quansah, he was unceremoniously hooked by Slot at half-time. ‌ Despite his struggles, Liverpool chiefs still had the belief that Quansah, who's been called up by England three times without making his debut, would be an asset for years to come. That's why the decision was made to hand the academy product a long-term contract in October, reportedly keeping him tied down until 2029. ‌ But things appear to have changed. Sky Germany report that Quansah has interest from clubs in the Bundesliga and Premier League. They add that Liverpool haven't ruled out a sale, with their defence set to undergo a significant change in the summer transfer window. In anticipation of Trent Alexander-Arnold's exit, the Reds have agreed a deal to sign right-back Jeremie Frimpong on a five-year contract after informing Bayer Leverkusen that they plan to pay his £29.5million release clause. Right-back is a position that Quansah, a central defender by trade, has featured regularly in under Slot. But the Dutchman's faith wavered towards the end of the campaign, with midfielder Curtis Jones being used there when both Conor Bradley and Alexander-Arnold were out injured. Liverpool were also interested in signing Real Madrid -bound Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen for £50m, suggesting that they're looking to sign centre-back. Thanks to being a homegrown player, Quansah's sale would greatly boost Liverpool's already comfortable financial position, with Newcastle reportedly big fans of the 22-year-old. Slot has, though, praised Quansah's mentality and would seemingly have no problem having the Warrington-born prospect in his squad next season. " Ibou [Konate] and Virgil [van Dijk] were and are such a strong combination that he didn't play a lot," Slot acknowledged in March after his latest England call-up. "But every time he had to play, except for maybe the first one or two games, but afterwards he had to play you could see that maybe he is no longer a talent because as a talent you don't have any setbacks, but the moment you get setbacks it's about you and how you react. I think he showed in his recent performances that he's outgrown being called a talent. ‌ Should Liverpool sell Jarell Quansah? Have your say in the comments section. "That's probably what Thomas Tuchel saw and sees as well by giving him a call-up. He did really well the last few times he had to play for us and even in a position he's not completely used to as a right full-back. ‌ "But in my opinion, he has also the qualities to play in that position. He's strong, he's fast, he's very comfortable with the ball and it gives us an extra quality if we play him, which we saw [against Paris Saint-Germain ], in terms of set-pieces because he was the one that was this far away from us qualifying for the next round by heading the ball onto the post, because that one was not offside. "He showed mentality and that he had quality. That's already what we knew when we saw him playing last season."

Kerry Katona smiles as she cosies up to reality star for Celebs Go Dating

Kerry Katona flashed a smile as she headed to the Celebs Go Dating agency with her co-star, Made In Chelsea after returning from filming the show in Ibiza Kerry Katona was the picture of happiness as she filmed Celebs Go Dating with a reality star. The former singer and telly star walked arm in arm with Made In Chelsea's Sam Prince after returning from filming the dating programme on the stunning island of Ibiza. The 44-year-old was in a playful mood as she headed to the show's London office after signing up following her split from fiancé Ryan Mahoney last year. The former couple had been together for six years, but Kerry, who found fame as one-third of Atomic Kitten, revealed this year that their split was due to a breach of trust. ‌ But the Warrington-born star is hoping to find love again with the help of dating coaches Anna Williamson, Paul C. Brunson and Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn. Kerry will be joined on the programme by S Club singer Jon Lee, Love Island's Olivia Hawkins, Made In Chelsea's Sam Prince, Too Hot To Handle's Louis Russell and The Chase's Mark Labbett, who is expected to join later in the series. ‌ As filming got underway in the capital, Kerry embraced the warmer weather that the United Kingdom is currently enjoying as she and Sam Prince filmed together. Walking through the streets, the blonde bombshell flashed a smile as she embraced the reality star, 28. The pair appeared to be laughing as they walked along together before heading inside the building to meet the love gurus. Kerry opted for a sophisticated look, rocking a one-shouldered ruffled white top paired with light blue denim jeans and tanned boots. Her famous blonde tresses were styled into neat waves, cascading down one shoulder before resting on her chest as she chose a minimal yet elegant make-up look, embracing her tanned complexion following the trip to Ibiza. Meanwhile, despite the temperatures reaching over 20 degrees in London, Sam chose a more edgy appearance. He rocked a black leather-look coat, which he styled over a black shirt and white T-shirt. His outfit was completed with a pair of smart black trousers and suede-looking black Chelsea boots. ‌ Show bosses have teased that this series will bring drama and "a whirlwind of romance, emotional and revealing heart-to-hearts, and the usual unexpected twists and turns". They said: "Away from the pressures of fame, family, and everyday responsibilities, they'll be staying together in a glamorous villa - no distractions, no excuses, just time to focus on themselves and make genuine connections." But while Kerry is on the lookout for love, she recently joked that she had "banned" younger men from approaching her. Writing in her column for New! Magazine, she said: "I'm so excited to finally be able to share that I'm taking part in the new series of Celebs Go Dating! It's been really hard keeping it a secret, but filming has kicked off and I'm really excited. ‌ "I've done the show once before, but it was six years ago, so it feels really new and fresh. Olivia Hawkins is also on the show and we only met for the first time last week, but I love her to bits, I want to adopt her and Too Hot To Handle Star, Louis Russell." Admitting she's already learning things about herself on the show, Kerry joked: "I'm a bit of a nightmare! I'm very abrupt and to the point, half of the men in the first mixer were half my age, so I told them not to come near me - I could be their mum! I can't say too much more, but I can't wait for you all to watch it!"

Luke Littler clears up darts boycott stance after pulling out of tournament

Doubts had been raised over whether Luke Littler would play for England World Cup of Darts but 'the Nuke' has given a definitive answer after another memorable night in the Premier League Luke Littler has confirmed that he'll represent England at the World Cup of Darts in Germany this summer to end speculation that he could skip the tournament. Littler, 18, recently cast doubt over the likelihood of him teaming up with Luke Humphries to defend England's crown. Following his semi-final defeat to Gian van Veen during a European Tour event, the teenage sensation voiced his frustration with the hostile crowd in Munich. In a now-deleted social media post, Littler wrote: "Shouldn't have been in Munich but had to play anyway, next one in Germany for me is Dortmund [in October] and I am glad to say that." ‌ Given that the World Cup will be held in Frankfurt between June 12 and 15, questions were raised over whether Littler would play. But the Warrington-born star has now cleared up the confusion. "No, no I was always [going to play]," Littler told SportsBoom. ‌ "Luke will want to go back-to-back and obviously I want to win it for the first time. Even though it's not a major, it's still playing for your country." Sky Sports commentator Stuart Pyke also clarified that Littler's withdrawal from this weekend's latest Euro event was due to scheduling issues. "He is going to play [at the World Cup]. He's definitely going to play with Luke Humphries and he will play on the Euro Tour," Pyke explained. "The reason he pulled out of the event this week is scheduling. Nothing more, nothing less. He got a bit emotional. He came out and said. something but didn't mean it. He will be playing in Germany at the World Cup." Their comments came off the back of Littler breaking yet another Premier League Darts record. Littler recorded his fifth nightly win in Birmingham on Thursday to continue his extraordinary rise. Will Luke Littler help England retain the World Cup of Darts? Give us your prediction in the comments section. ‌ "It feels amazing to keep setting record in the Premier League. It's only my second year," he said. "It's good to be clear at the top of the table. "Heading into the O2 (Arena in London later this month) I just need to make sure I'm at the top and get that first semi-final of the night. I've done it last year, why can't I do it again. "The points record as well, that can be broken, but most importantly these next few weeks I'm just gonna relax and see where the darts land."
