Police intensify campaigns on Shakti App in Sathya Sai and Chittoor districts
The police of Sri Sathya Sai and Chittoor districts have intensified the awareness campaign on 'Shakti App', an emergency digital tool designed and developed to ensure the safety of women and students in distress.
Sri Sathya Sai Superintendent of Police V. Ratna said that the police from the village level to the sub-division were directed to make extensive outreach efforts, and hold awareness programmes, focusing on schools, colleges, and public places. She said that Deputy SP Adinarayana (Women Police wing), the Shakti Teams would explain and demonstrate how the app could act as a digital shield for women, bringing them immediate police assistance through the SOS button and Dial 100 and 112.
Chittoor Superintendent of Police V.N. Manikanta Chandolu said that the app administration would be handled by Additional SP (Operations) and Shakti Teams Nodal Officer S.R. Rajasekhar Raju, who would lead the initiatives to promote awareness among the target group. As part of the campaign, a Shakti team led by Inspector B. Srinivasa Rao addressed students, focusing on the app's life-saving potential during emergencies.
'It is a sincere request from the police that every woman and girl student must download the Shakti App on their mobiles. With a single click, assured help from the nearest police station would arrive at the troubled spot in a matter of a few minutes. Place your safety in our hands,' the Inspector told the students, adding that formation of Shakti Warrior Groups had already commenced in all educational institutions.
The Chittoor SP in a message told the students that the app would not only connect victims to police immediately, but also send instant alerts to their family and emergency services, making it a highly reliable tool at times of crisis.
