Gibson Southern advances to sectional championship with 9-1 win
HUNTINGBURG, Ind. (WEHT) — The Gibson Southern Titans pull away late to take down the Washington Hatchets 9-1 and advance to the sectional championship game. WHS, B-R play well at Invite
MONTGOMERY —The Washington Hatchets and Barr-Reeve Vikings saw what could possibly be some top flight regional competition in the Washington Invitational at Country Oaks on Saturday. Although they faced several weather delays and a change in tee times, they were able to get the event in despite the interruptions. Advertisement Castle was the overall winner shoot 302 while both WHS and B-R had solid scores of 329 and 326. Barr-Reeve and Vincennes Lincoln tied for 7th in the 20 team field and Washington finished in 9th place. Patrick McCarthy led WHS with an 81, while Aiden Boyd shot 83, Bensen Smith tied McCarthy with an 81 and Tristin Zollars added an 84, Landon Miller shot 90. The Hatchet Gold team also shot 377. The young Barr-Reeve team also put up solid numbers as well, with freshman Lincoln Miller shooting 76, Lincoln Wagler shooting 79, Cam Knepp at 82, Issac Knepp at 89 and Brayden Wagler with a 90. The B-R Black team added 367. Finishing second overall was Evansville North at 312 and Jasper in third at 314. The medalist was Brayden Lamborne of Castle with a -2 (70). He was the only player under par.
