Create Account Halton Regional Police say Project Nightshade – launched in October 2024 – identified three suspects believed to be involved in the trafficking of illicit drugs. Officers from Halton, with the assistance of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, executed search warrants on two residences in Waterloo Region on July 7, police said in a statement released Wednesday. As a result of the investigation, police allegedly seized a prohibited Glock .45 firearm with ammunition and extended magazine, 1.6 kilograms of cocaine, 750 grams of fentanyl, 330 tablets of oxycodone, 350 capsules of morphine, 780 tablets of dilaudid, $30,000 in cash, and a small amount of counterfeit currency. The total street value of the drugs seized was about $300,000, police said. Man taken to hospital after collision involving e-bike in Woolwich Township
A crash in Woolwich Township sent a man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Waterloo Regional Police Service was called to a collision involving an e-bike on Church Street East near Spruce Lane on Monday around 11:55 a.m. They said the operator of the e-bike, a 63-year-old man, was taken to hospital, but the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was not hurt. Roads were closed in the area during the investigation, but have since reopened.

Man charged in voyeurism incidents at Waterloo Region malls
The Waterloo Regional Police Service has made an arrest as part of an investigation into two separate voyeurism incidents at malls in Kitchener and Waterloo. Police said the first incident happened at Fairview Mall in Kitchener on July 9 around 3:55 p.m. They said someone had recorded a victim while they were changing in a private stall inside a store. The second incident happened at Conestoga Mall in Waterloo on July 21. An employee told police they saw a man place a recording device on his shoe and film females inside a store. On Friday, officers arrested a 56-year-old Kitchener man and charged him with two counts of voyeurism.

Charges laid after seven uncalled for tow trucks arrive at Cambridge collision
A long list of charges has been laid after police were called to a physical fight between two tow truck drivers at a crash site in Cambridge. The Waterloo Regional Police Service received several calls about a two-vehicle collision on Franklin Boulevard near Mill Creek Road on Thursday around 2:15 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the northbound lanes of the road were blocked by multiple tow trucks and two tow truck drivers were involved in a physical confrontation. In total, seven tow trucks from four different companies were at the crash, but police said the drivers involved in the collision hadn't called any of them. Officers laid 21 charges under the Highway Traffic Act and the Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act. They also deemed one truck to be unsafe and put it out of service. Under Ontario law, tow truck operators are not allowed to solicit services that have not been requested either by a driver or by another authorized person, such as a police officer.

Portion of Waterloo road closed following crash
A road in Waterloo is closed following a crash on Wednesday. In a social media post at 7:13 a.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Service said Weber Street north was closed near Columbia Street East for both north and south bound traffic. Police did not provide any information on if anyone was hurt or when the road would open. They have asked the public to avoid the area.
