The investigation began with a 911 call reporting a road rage incident in the area of Warren and Morton Taylor Roads, according to a press release from the Canton Police Department. "The caller advised that an exchange of words had occurred, threats were made, and a firearm had been brandished," the report said. Officers responded to the area, and found the suspect's vehicle in a nearby neighborhood. Canton officers then obtained a search warrant for a local home and found a firearm that was believed to have been used in the incident. Liam Rentz, 52, of Canton has since been charged by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office with carrying a concealed weapon, which is a 5-year felony; and brandishing a firearm in public, which is a 90-day misdemeanor. Rentz had an arraignment hearing in 35th District Court, where bond was set at $5,000, 10%. His next court appearance is May 30. "The Canton Police Department reminds the public that acts of violence or threats of violence on our roadways will not be tolerated. We remain committed to investigating these incidents thoroughly while pursuing all appropriate charges," the press release said. If you are faced with a confrontation with an aggressive driver, the police department gave the following suggestions: Avoid engaging or retaliating. Do not make eye contact or respond to insults or gestures. Get to a safe location and call 911 if you feel threatened. Drive to a public area or police station if you believe you're being followed.

Home invasion, assault with intent to murder charges filed from Dearborn Heights shooting
A Detroit man has been charged in a double shooting that happened Sunday in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Ashante Linelli-Ramon McAfee, 48, of Detroit, was charged in connection with the shooting that injured a 39-year-old Dearborn Heights woman and a 41-year-old Ecorse man, according to a press release from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. The charges are two counts assault with intent to murder, two counts felonious assault, discharge in or at a building causing serious injury, home invasion-first degree, felon in possession of a firearm, domestic violence and seven counts of felony firearm. McAfee had an arraignment hearing in 20th District Court. Bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety with a GPS tether. A probable cause conference is scheduled for May 28. McAfee is the former boyfriend of the Dearborn Heights woman, the press release said. The emergency call about a shooting was made about 10:32 a.m. Sunday, sending officers to a home in the 4100 block of Weddel Street in Dearborn Heights. Upon arrival, police first found the male victim down the street from that location, with a gunshot wound to a kneecap. He had called 911. The female victim was found inside a bedroom of her home on that block, with gunshot wounds to her right thigh, left knee, left chest, and right hand. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect drove off in a white Ford F-150. Investigation by the Dearborn Heights Police Department led to an arrest later that day. The video above previously aired on May 18.

Detroit teen charged in carjacking of dog rescuer
A Detroit teen is facing a slew of charges in connection with the carjacking of a Detroit rescuer on the city's east side. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on May 7, when the victim was in the backyard of a home in the 17400 block of Charest Street in Detroit. Prosecutors say the 47-year-old victim was giving food to dogs when Dwayne Noah Alexander-Perdue, 17, reportedly approached her and pulled out a handgun before robbing the victim of her car keys. The teen then allegedly drove off in the victim's vehicle. He was arrested by Detroit police later that day. Alexander-Perdue is charged with armed robbery, carjacking, unlawfully driving away an automobile, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, resisting and obstructing a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and three counts of felony firearm. Prosecutors are charging the teen as an adult. "The victim in this case was providing an all too necessary service that is sorely needed in the City of Detroit. The defendant's alleged actions in this case were the opposite of altruistic — they were predatory, violent, unacceptable, and criminal," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy in a news release. Alexander-Perdue is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning.

The teen, whose name was not released, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, careless discharge of a firearm causing injury, and possession of a weapon in a weapons-free school zone. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, he was arraigned on Thursday and received a $5,000/10% bond. The teen must not have contact with the victim and must not possess firearms. Prosecutors say the teen brought an unsecured gun to the school. While sitting on the bus, the teen was allegedly handling the weapon when it discharged, striking the student in the left hand. The student was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition on Wednesday. Authorities said the school canceled classes on Thursday in response to the shooting.

Four arrests announced in Metro Detroit stolen vehicle parts investigation
Four men were arrested in Metro Detroit amid a criminal enterprise investigation involving stolen vehicle parts, according to a report from the Dearborn Police Department. The arrests happened Tuesday after several months of investigation that included assistance from Ford Motor Company Global Security, Dearborn officers said. Search warrants were served that day on two Detroit businesses along with a home in Dearborn and a home in Canton. "The investigation led Police to believe that a Ford employee was responsible for the theft of new vehicle parts and was providing them to a Detroit business to be offered for sale," police said. The names of those arrested have not been released, pending official charges from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. Additional details on the investigation will be provided at a later date. "These arrests were made possible through the diligent and sophisticated work of our investigative units and with the help and cooperation of the Ford Motor Company Global Security. Such criminal plots will not be tolerated in Dearborn and we will employ all resources to bring them down," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said in a statement.
