Couple's charity challenge takes them to Dumfries and Galloway coastline
Charlotte and Wayne Stainton are aiming to cover the entire UK coastline to support the North West Air Ambulance.
A husband and wife are currently walking the coastline of Dumfries and Galloway to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.
Charlotte and Wayne Stainton – who got married in July – are aiming to cover the entire UK coastline to support the North West Air Ambulance.
The pair, from Egrement in Cumbria, set off from Maryport earlier this month and made it to Gretna on Thursday.
Over the coming days, Charlotte and Wayne – and dogs Lola and Twitch – will be tackling the Dumfries and Galloway leg of their challenge, which will see them cover more than 7,700 miles.
Charlotte, who has Huntingdon's disease, said: 'I choose the air ambulance as I suffered a major accident in 2023 which lead me in to a coma and loosing majority of my large bowel.
'I owe my life to the air ambulance as I would not be here if it wasn't for this service.
'I've raised money for Huntington's disease over the past few years as I suffer with this disease, but now I'd like to give back to the air ambulance and get as many people behind us as possible.
'We will be walking an average of 10 to 20 miles a day and the support we have had so far is amazing.
'We have had so much help from farmers and caravan parks and we hope to get a lot more.'
The couple were aiming to make it to Annan on Friday, staying at Westmoss-side Livery at Cummertrees on Saturday before making it to Dumfries on Sunday.
