(File photo/Ontario Provincial Police/Facebook) Ontario Provincial Police charged five people and seized suspected drugs, weapons and suspected stolen property following the execution of a search warrant in Webbwood last month. Search warrant executed On July 29, officers conducted a raid at a residence on First Street in Webbwood. Investigators recovered suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $14,000. 'Additionally, police seized a camping trailer, a boat and a motor, all believed to be stolen,' OPP said in a news release. 38 charges laid against 5 accused As a result of the investigation and subsequent search, a 46-year-old man from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township faces charges of drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and weapons offences. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 14. Additionally, a 42-year-old man from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation was charged with drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and unauthorized weapon possession among other offences. They too remain in custody and are set to appear in court on Aug. 14. Two other suspects – a 52-year-old man from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township and a 69-year-old woman from Webbwood – were both charged with drug possession, drug trafficking and possession of stolen property. The woman is scheduled for a Sept. 22 court appearance in Espanola, while the man remains in custody pending an Aug. 14 appearance. A 34-year-old man from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township faces additional charges in the incident – including breaching a probation order and multiple weapons offences. He too remains detained and will appear in court on Aug. 14. Authorities urge the public to report crime OPP encouraged community members to come forward with information about illegal activity. 'You can help support and contribute to the safety of your community,' police said. 'If you have knowledge of criminal activity, take action by contacting Crime Stoppers.'

(File photo/Supplied/Ontario Provincial Police) Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed that a body recovered from the Spanish River in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township is that of 50-year-old Gregory 'Greg' Grant, a Webbwood man reported missing in June. OPP's Manitoulin detachment launched a search for Grant on June 16, after he was reported missing in Webbwood. The search involved the OPP's emergency response team, canine unit and aviation support. Body discovered in July On July 20 at about 1 p.m., OPP including its underwater search and recovery unit responded to reports of a deceased person found in the Spanish River. A joint investigation by the OPP and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service confirmed the identity of the deceased as Grant. Not suspicious 'The death has been determined to be non-suspicious and the investigation is complete,' OPP said in a news release Tuesday. No further details were released.

(Supplied/Ontario Provincial Police) A 36-year-old Elliot Lake man is facing impaired driving charges after Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint on Canada Day. At about 1 a.m. on July 1, OPP received a report of a vehicle swerving on Highway 17 in the Township of McKerrow. 'Police located the vehicle on Highway 17 in the Town of Webbwood and conducted a traffic stop,' OPP said in a news release. Charges and penalties Following an investigation, the motorist was charged with two impaired driving offences – including operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80. In addition to the criminal charges, the driver received a 90-day licence suspension and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days at the owner's expense. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Espanola on Aug. 5. The search for a man last seen Sunday in Webbwood, west of Sudbury, has drawn a heavy police presence in the area of Agnew Lake Road, Ontario Provincial Police say. Greg, 50, was last seen wearing a light-coloured jacket and dark-coloured pants, police said in a news release Tuesday. Search and rescue crews continue to search for him along the 6.3 km stretch of road in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, located more than 12 km west of Espanola, after the Manitoulin detachment started an investigation Monday. 'Police and family members are concerned for Greg's safety and are asking anyone who may have information regarding this missing person investigation to contact the OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122,' police said. 'If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit information online at where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000. Reference occurrence #E250775377." Greg is described as being five-foot-eight, 155 pounds with green eyes and short brown and grey hair. He wears reading glasses.
