Wednesday Season 1 premiered on Netflix in 2022 and kept fans waiting for its second season for nearly three years. Going by the current trends, it seems that the wait is worth it. As of now, Wednesday Season 2 holds an impressive 82% rating based on 34 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, putting it higher than the first season of the show. Why is Percy Todd Hynes aka Wednesday's love interest Xavier Thorpe missing from Wednesday Season 2? Controversy explained
As Wednesday Season 2 hits Netflix, fans have been quick to notice a key cast member missing from the lineup—Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe, Wednesday Addams' complicated love interest in Season 1. Despite being heavily featured in the first season's storyline and teasers, Percy is nowhere to be seen in the new batch of episodes. Netflix has made no official mention of his absence in trailers or press releases, leaving fans wondering why one of the show's central characters has been written out. Who did Percy Hynes White play in Wednesday, and what was his character's connection to Wednesday Addams? In Wednesday Season 1, Percy Hynes White portrayed Xavier Thorpe, a brooding, artistic Nevermore Academy student with the ability to bring his drawings to life. Xavier was positioned as a possible love interest for Wednesday Addams, creating a love triangle with Tyler Galpin, the seemingly sweet barista who turned out to be the deadly Hyde. While Wednesday remained emotionally guarded, Xavier's concern for her safety and willingness to stand by her made him a fan favourite. He often found himself caught in Wednesday's investigations and was even falsely accused of being Hyde at one point. Although their romance never quite bloomed fully, their chemistry added depth to Wednesday's story, showing glimpses of vulnerability beneath her deadpan surface. Why is Percy Hynes White not in Wednesday Season 2? Controversy and exit explained Percy Hynes White's absence from Wednesday Season 2 follows a wave of controversy that surfaced in early 2023, when allegations of sexual misconduct against the actor appeared on social media. Although Percy publicly denied the claims and no legal action was taken, the situation caused significant backlash online. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Percy called the allegations 'false' and described them as a result of targeted online harassment. Still, the accusations generated enough online attention to impact his public image. Netflix has never issued an official statement regarding his removal from the show, and his departure was never formally announced. However, by late 2023, it became clear that Percy would not return for Season 2, and his name was quietly left out of promotional materials. Some fans speculated that the decision was made internally to avoid potential backlash and to protect the image of the series, especially given its young audience and highly publicised success. Others believe his character was simply written out to allow Wednesday to take a different direction, one that focuses less on romantic subplots and more on psychological growth and new mysteries—a creative shift Jenna Ortega herself advocated for as a producer. What is Wednesday about, and when does Season 2 Part 2 release? Wednesday follows Wednesday Addams, the sharp-witted, deadpan daughter of the Addams family, as she joins Nevermore Academy—a school for outcasts with unusual abilities. While navigating teen life, psychic visions, and eerie classmates, Wednesday becomes entangled in solving a string of murders tied to her family's past. Netflix has split Wednesday Season 2 into two parts to heighten the suspense. Part 2, which includes Episodes 5 through 8, will be released on September 3, 2025, exactly one month after Part 1. With deeper Addams family secrets and darker twists teased in the first half, Part 2 is expected to deliver a gripping conclusion.

Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 drops today: Quick recap of the Addams family's big sis Wednesday's wild first year at Nevermore Academy
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 is almost here! After nearly three years of gothic silence, Wednesday Addams is finally coming back. The first season of Netflix's breakout supernatural hit made waves for its darkly funny tone, deadpan humour, and Jenna Ortega's magnetic performance. With its clever writing and Tim Burton's signature direction, the show quickly became a pop culture phenomenon, even as it was a rework of a story as old as time. Fans have been hungry for more ever since, and now, Wednesday is returning to Nevermore Academy, and this time, she has newer enemies but also unexpected new allies. Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 release date It's officially Wednesday, and fittingly, so is the show. Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 will be streaming on Netflix on August 6, 2025. This first batch includes four episodes (Episodes 1–4) and will be available globally at the usual Netflix drop times—3 AM ET / 12:30 PM IST for Indian viewers. Netflix has split the season into two parts this time, making the return feel more like an event. Fans are already rushing to binge Part 1, especially with the internet buzzing about some of the new characters and a certain song drop. What happened in Wednesday Season 1? Here's your recap Before diving into Season 2, let's jog your memory. In Season 1, Wednesday, the daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams and the Addams family's big sis, arrived at Nevermore Academy after being expelled from her previous school for dropping piranhas into a pool (yes, really). But let's be honest, she was just being a big sis to her brother, Pugsley. Nevermore, her mother's alma mater, is infamous for its outcasts, and her icy arrival, colder attitude, and refusal to fit in made her a walking mystery from day one. While adjusting to the school's oddball student body, including werewolves, sirens, and seers, she became entangled in a murder mystery connected to her family's history and a monstrous creature haunting the nearby woods. Despite her best efforts to remain emotionally detached, Wednesday did find unlikely allies. She was reluctantly paired with Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), a sunny, pastel-loving werewolf whose energy was the total opposite of her own. What started as mutual annoyance slowly turned into a true friendship, with Enid eventually proving to be one of Wednesday's fiercest protectors. Wednesday also bonded with Eugene (Moosa Mostafa), a shy student with a deep love for bees, and together they uncovered clues about the monster wreaking havoc outside the school gates. Romantically, things got complicated. Wednesday found herself caught between two boys—Xavier Thorpe (Hynes White), a brooding artist with mysterious powers, and Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), the charming local barista and sheriff's son. At first, Tyler seemed like the safe bet, someone who understood her darkness and made her feel something unexpected. But things took a darker turn when it was revealed that he was actually the Hyde, a shape-shifting monster, and had been manipulated by the season's true villain, Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci). Laurel, who was posing as Marilyn Thornhill, the seemingly kind 'dorm mom', had her own twisted agenda and ties to Wednesday's family's past. As the pieces came together, Wednesday's psychic visions helped her uncover the prophecy she was part of, one that predicted she'd be at the center of a bloody reckoning. She ended up fighting Tyler, exposing Laurel, and saving the school from disaster. But just when it seemed she'd earned a breather, Wednesday received an anonymous message on her new phone, complete with photos of her every move and a warning: someone was watching. She eventually uncovered that her psychic visions were linked to an ancient prophecy and helped bring down the villainous Laurel Gates, who was masquerading as the school's dorm mom. And just when things seemed calm, Wednesday received a cryptic message hinting that someone had been watching her all along. The season ended with that chilling cliffhanger, setting up an even more dangerous second chapter. Wednesday Season 2: New cast additions and major changes Jenna Ortega is not only back as the lead but is also serving as a producer this season. Her creative involvement reportedly helped shape Wednesday's arc to be 'less romantic, more personal,' something fans were asking for. Returning cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Emma Myers as Enid, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, and Moosa Mostafa as Eugene. There are some big new names joining too: Steve Buscemi plays Barry Dort, the new principal of Nevermore, and Thandiwe Newton enters as a mysterious therapist named Dr. Fairburn. Fans are also excited about Joanna Lumley, who appears as Grandmama Frump. And in one of the season's biggest surprises, Lady Gaga joins the show as Rosaline Rotwood, a cryptic music teacher with a strange link to Nevermore's past. Gaga also contributed a brand-new song called "Dead Dance", which features in Part 1 and will get a full music video release in September. A few familiar faces, however, won't return—Percy Hynes White (Xavier) and Naomi J. Ogawa (Yoko) have exited the cast. When is Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 coming out? Netflix is keeping the tension high by splitting the season. Part 2 of Wednesday Season 2 drops on September 3, 2025, almost exactly a month after today's release. Episodes 5 through 8 will bring the season to a close, and if the pacing of Part 1 is anything to go by, fans can expect a wild, possibly devastating finish. With clues already pointing to deeper lore about the Addams family and Nevermore's origins, September can't come soon enough.

Wednesday Season 1 recap from the Hyde's identity to ending explained
Wednesday Season 1 premiered in 2022 and quickly became a global phenomenon Wednesday: Season 2 official Netflix trailer *Warning: This article contains spoilers for Wednesday Season 1* Wednesday quickly became a worldwide sensation and now, despite a long wait, Season 2 will soon return to screens. Offering a fresh perspective on the Addams Family, the series is seen through the eyes of Wednesday Addams (portrayed by Jenna Ortega). The inaugural season revolved entirely around Wednesday being sent to Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for misfits and outcasts, following her retaliation against her brother Pugsley's tormentors. Initially resistant, Wednesday soon found herself playing a pivotal role at the school, having rescued Nevermore Academy from a significant threat, reports the Mirror US. As we eagerly await the next instalment, here's a recap of key events to remember. The big mystery Right from the start, Wednesday was embroiled in a massive mystery as a monstrous beast seemed to be preying on outcasts. In one of the early episodes, student Rowan tries to murder Wednesday only to be ripped apart by a creature. Despite what Wednesday witnessed, he shows up at school the next day before departing. It later transpires that Rowan's reappearance was actually due to shapeshifter, Principal Larissa Weems. Another intriguing mystery was the history of Jericho and its connection to Wednesday Addams. Wednesday quizzes her parents about an old murder case in which her father, Gomez, was accused of killing another student, Garrett Gates - who it later was revealed to be Laurel's brother (AKA Miss Thornhill). Garrett was accidentally killed by Wednesday's mother, Morticia, after he attempted a mass murder of outcasts at the school. We soon learn about Garrett's family and their connections to Joseph Crackstone - and there was one monster hiding in plain sight. Joseph Crackstone and the Master Plan Joseph Crackstone was a radical pilgrim who was obsessed with eradicating all outcasts. Miss Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates, managed to stay under the radar as Miss Thornhill to avenge her brother's death. Concealing herself behind the school's normie teacher act, Laurel quickly identified Tyler as the Hyde and began to control him, all part of her master plan - which was to resurrect Joseph Crackstone. She needed enough body parts to resurrect Crackstone, and using Wednesday's blood, she succeeds. Wednesday's Powers Season 1 saw Wednesday grappling with her psychic abilities. Guided by her ancestor Goody Addams, Wednesday's visions become stronger throughout. The main character possesses the ability to experience visions through physical contact, though she initially lacked control over this gift. Following her ultimate vision, Goody devised a strategy that involves bringing Wednesday back from a fatal injury. Wednesday and Enid Wednesday and Enid form an unexpected partnership. Wednesday favours isolation and gloom, but finds herself sharing accommodation with Enid Sinclair, her polar opposite. Enid is depicted battling to "wolf out" during the series, and as her abilities finally develop, her bond with Wednesday deepens as well. She rapidly transforms into a devoted companion and ultimately saves Wednesday's life. Who is the Hyde? Wednesday eventually discovered the Hyde was actually supposed normie and romantic interest, Tyler. This shocking truth emerged during their initial kiss when Wednesday experienced a vision. Tyler's Hyde lineage stems from his deceased mother Francoise, who also studied at Nevermore and was a Hyde, though no-one knew as Hyde's are banned from attending Nevermore. What happens to Principal Weems? A Murder of Woes is the final episode in the season and arguably the most intense. After apprehending Tyler and plotting to torture him, Wednesday was eventually reported to Principal Weems, detained and subsequently kicked out of Nevermore. Tyler confessed to being the Hyde, taunting her with the question "What does it feel like to lose?" The drama didn't end there, as despite their tense relationship, Wednesday joined forces with Principal Weems for one final scheme. Weems, a shapeshifter, impersonates Tyler and confronts Miss Thornhill, who finally admits to being Laurel Gates and using Tyler to kill outcasts. Principal Weems was subsequently murdered. Who is the stalker in Wednesday? Wednesday concluded on a suspenseful note, much to the fans' excitement. Equipped with her first mobile phone, she began receiving a string of text messages from an unidentified number. One message ominously stated: "I'm watching you", accompanied by threatening gifs and photos of Wednesday with her romantic interests. The stalker's identity remains a mystery, but fans are eagerly sharing their theories ahead of Season 2.
