River Hull bridge in Beverley to be removed for refurbishment
A 1950s lift bridge is to be removed from the River Hull in East Yorkshire for repair renovation of Weel Bridge in Beverley will include repairs to the bridge's structure as well as a new path for pedestrians and cyclists.A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: "In order to do this, we need to temporarily remove the bridge and carry out the improvements off-site. Therefore, this route will be closed to traffic."Work is scheduled to begin in November and be completed by March, with diversions in place.
The council said the renovation, which will also include an upgraded control system, would improve safety and make it more bridge was built in 1953 and carries traffic over the River Hull between Beverley and bascule bridge can be raised to allow for river traffic along the river.
