Aussie tourist dies while holidaying in Vietnam as tributes pour in for 'much-loved' chiropractor

A Melbourne chiropractor has died in a tragic accident while on holiday overseas. Dr Sean Crawford, who was aged in his late 20s, died while travelling in Vietnam on August 5. The specific details of the accident have not been released. The 'much-loved' chiropractor worked at Wellbeing Chiropractic's Melton and Tarneit clinics, about 25km west of Melbourne's CBD. 'It is with deep sadness we share the tragic news of the passing of our colleague and friend, Dr Sean Crawford, following an accident while he was on holidays recently in Vietnam,' the clinic wrote on Facebook. 'Dr Sean was a valued and much loved member of our team, caring for patients at our Melton and Tarneit clinics with warmth, skill, and dedication. 'His sudden passing has left a profound loss for our staff, patients, and the wider community. 'Our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences are with Sean's family, friends, patients, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. 'Your passion, kindness, and dedication will live on in the many lives you touched.' Dr Crawford was born and raised in Western Australia before moving to Victoria in 2010 with his family. The Melbourne chiropractor went on to study at RMIT University. Patients paid tribute to Dr Crawford online. 'Still in shock since I received a call from the staff regarding this devastated news, he was such an amazing person who will be deeply missed,' one wrote. 'Dr Sean was an amazing chiropractor so young talented and friendly I felt so comfortable talking to him,' another added. 'The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian who died in Vietnam,' a DFAT spokesperson said. 'We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time. 'Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment.'

Sean Crawford, 27, who worked at Wellbeing Chiropractic, died in an accident on August 5, his sister confirmed on August 7. 'It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beautiful Sean,' Crawford's sister wrote on social media. 'A much-loved son, brother, partner and friend. Who was taken away too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. We will always love and miss you.' The clinic also shared the news in a statement to clients. 'It is with deep sadness we share the tragic news of the passing of our colleague and friend, Dr. Sean Crawford, following an accident while he was on holidays recently in Vietnam,' the clinic wrote. 'Dr. Sean was a valued and much loved member of our team, caring for patients at our Melton and Tarneit clinics with warmth, skill, and dedication. According to the clinic, Crawford was born and raised in Western Australia before moving to Victoria with his family. He studied at RMIT University, completing a double degree in Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Applied Science (Chiropractic), where he gained hands-on experience working with athletes and patients at the RMIT Sports Academy and clinic. He later developed his skills in sports rehabilitation and recovery in Gisborne and worked at Wellbeing Chiropractic's Melton and Tarneit clinics. 'Outside of practice, Sean loved staying active, keeping fit, and spending quality time with friends and family,' the clinic wrote. Crawford was admired 'not only for his clinical expertise but also for the kindness, warmth, and dedication he brought to every patient he cared for'. Tributes from patients have flooded the clinic's social media pages. 'Rest in peace brother. Life can be f***ing unfair sometimes. But you lived a diligent life and helped the community. That's more than most achieve in a lifetime,' one comment read. 'Oh my lord.. Thank you for my care Sean. Thank you for the laughs,' another said. 'It is a blessing to meet you even for such a short time. My heart goes out to all your family and friends. I'll always remember your kindness and care. You had a profound impact on many lives. Rest in peace Dr. Sean,' a third wrote. Crawford's funeral will be held on Thursday at St Andrew's Church in Sunbury. 'For all those who would like to join us in saying goodbye and sharing memories of Sean. Your presence would mean a great deal to our family during this difficult time,' his sister said. Your passion, kindness, and dedication will live on in the many lives you touched.' The clinic said Dr Crawford died on August 5, although details of the accident were not immediately clear. Dr Crawford was born and raised in Western Australia before moving to Victoria with his family in 2010 and pursuing a career in the health industry, according to a tribute on the clinic's website. 'During his studies at RMIT University, Sean enjoyed working with the RMIT Sports Academy and clinic,' it said. 'He later gained valuable experience in Gisborne, where he developed his skills in sports rehabilitation and recovery. Outside of practice, Sean loved staying active, keeping fit, and spending quality time with friends and family.' A funeral service will be held on August 21 at St Andrew's Uniting Church, Sunbury. Tributes have poured in on social media for the young doctor. 'How very sad. A young clever man taken far too early,' one woman wrote. 'Such a lovely young guy. Rest in peace mate,' another man said. A third woman posted, 'Really shocked by this. Going to miss our chats about our rivalry between Freo and West Coast. Always brought a smile to my face. Rest easy.' Messages of support have also been left for Dr Crawford's family ahead of the funeral. 'He will always be remembered for the joy and love he brought into this world, and his light will continue to shine through the memories you hold close,' one read. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has been contacted for comment. According to DFAT's most recent Consular State of Play report, 91 Australians died in Vietnam in 2023-24, making it the fourth most deadly overseas destination behind Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia.
