KUCHING (May 11): The spirit of unity and harmony between the people of different races and religions must continue to flourish in Sarawak, said Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
In his Wesak Day 2025 message, the Head of State also expressed his pride for this spirit, which he hailed as 'an identity for Sarawak'.
'Let us continue to preserve this harmony as the foundation for the progress and stability of our beloved state,' he said, as he and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, wished 'Happy Wesak Day' to all Buddhists in Sarawak.
He remarked: 'Wesak Day is an important celebration that commemorates the birth, the enlightenment, and also the passing of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha.
'Wesak Day invites us all to reflect on noble values such as love, simplicity, tolerance and compassion for fellow human beings, regardless of race and religion.
'I hope that this Wesak Day will be celebrated with full meaning, in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.' lead public holiday Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar wesak day
