Presi UG entrance results on Aug 9, profs worried over student quality
1 2 Kolkata: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Board will publish the entrance test results for undergraduate admissions to Presidency University on Aug 9. Professors and alumni are concerned about getting good students this year due to this delay. WBJEE conducted the test on June 21 and 22. The result publication was delayed due to legal ambiguity over OBC seat reservations. An edit option was given to students who appeared for the test. They were asked to update their social categories from Sunday onwards. Verification by the varsity will be done at the time of admission. The Board issued a notice on Sunday, saying that after incorporation of the social category responses, the result will be published on Aug 9 through WBJEE official websites. Even CUET results have been declared. An official of the university said, "We will only get clear updates about how many students appeared in the exam and how many of them will take admission later because we will access the data only on the date of result publication. But, we are concerned about the quality as well as quantity of student intake as a major number has already taken admissions in other institutions." Since 2016, the tests are being conducted by the Board. This year, the portal was opened for receiving applications on March 28 and was open for a month. Several students who appeared in the exam said this was the longest wait to reach the final round of admission, where maintaining patience became a great challenge. SFI has started a sit-in demanding result publication and start of PG admission. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Friendship Day wishes , messages and quotes !
