Search to resume after girl's fall into Ripponden reservoir
Emergency crews are due to resume their search for a teenage girl who is believed to have fallen into a reservoir, police have were first called to the dam at Baitings Reservoir, near Ripponden, in West Yorkshire, at about 13:15 BST on Wednesday after reports of a person in the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were also sent to the scene, as well as a crew from Greater Manchester, with the ambulance service also in said it was expected that the search at the reservoir, which on Wednesday included underwater teams, would continue on Thursday. Major search underway after girl falls into huge dam lake as cops launch hunt and begin underwater searches
AN UGRENT search has been launched after a girl fell into a dam lake this afternoon. The youngster, whose age has not yet been confirmed, vanished under the water at Baitings Dam, near Ripponden, in West Yorkshire. 5 5 Emergency services were called to the reservoir at around 1.20pm. They remain at the scene this evening conducting under water searches. Four West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews are also at the dam, assisted by Littleborough crew. And, Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed they sent officers from their Hazardous Area Response Team. A police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 1.17pm this afternoon police were called to a report a girl had fallen into water at Baitings Dam near Ripponden. "Emergency services are currently on the scene, with searches ongoing to locate the girl. Derelict Bradford Rhodesway swimming pool building hit by fire
An investigation is under way into the cause of a fire which engulfed a former swimming pool in Bradford. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) were called at about 16:00 BST on Monday to the fire at the former Rhodesway Pool on Oaks Lane. Eight crews and an aerial ladder were sent to the fire was put out but crews remained at the scene overnight and West Yorkshire Police were informed, a fire service spokesperson said. An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way with police asking anyone with information to get in pool was sold by Bradford Council at the end of auction estimate was £40-50,000 but it realised more than 10 times that, selling for £508, pool site was one of 11 council-owned properties to go under the hammer, with plots of land, empty homes and an old filling station also being sold. Smoke warning as crews tackle Bradford scrap yard fire
People in part of Bradford have been urged to keep their windows and doors closed as fire crews continue to tackle a large fire at a nearby scrap crews were first called to the blaze on Nelson Street, just outside the city centre, on Wednesday evening and remained at the scene on Thursday.A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said seven pump appliances and one aerial appliance had been sent to a scrap yard building were "requesting that people avoid the area if possible and those that live nearby close all their windows and doors to stop smoke entering their property", the spokesperson said. The fire investigation team had been assessing the cause of the blaze and found that it had started in an adjacent business where waste was being burned, they added."Unfortunately, this got out of control, spreading to surrounding combustible materials, then to the adjacent units," the fire service spokesperson said.
