Boat towed to safety after losing steering in choppy conditions

A motor cruiser lost steering in challenging conditions off the Norfolk coast. Wells All-Weather Lifeboat Duke of Edinburgh was launched at 11.55am on Thursday to assist two people on board the vessel which had lost steering and propulsion off Weybourne. The cruiser was towed to safety (Image: Wells RNLI) In choppy sea conditions, the cruiser was safely taken under tow. The tow was later passed to Caister Independent Lifeboat for the final leg of the journey to Lowestoft. Wells Lifeboat returned to the station at 3.40pm.

A paraglider pilot in his 70s was airlifted to hospital after reportedly flying into a cliff. It happened at about 12:20 BST on Thursday at Weybourne Beach, near Sheringham."The man was transported by air ambulance to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment," said a spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance man's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, they added. James Dyson's family holding company has tapped a legal veteran from his technology empire to be its next chief executive officer, the latest staffing shakeup at the firm overseeing Britain's biggest fortune. Martin Bowen, 56, was appointed to the top job at Weybourne last month, according to UK registry filings, following more than two decades of service at Dyson Ltd., where he's been its chief legal officer most recently. He succeeds James Bucknall, 66, a former British army officer who helped lead Weybourne for more than a decade.
