When Mihir's Death In Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Had An Unexpected Response: "People Fell At Ekta Kapoor's Feet"
New Delhi: OG lead cast members Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay are reprising their roles of Tulsi Virani and Mihir, and are all set to return in Ekta Kapoor's iconic television reboot series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The creative director of the show, Nivedita Basu, spoke about the craze back then and how Mihir's death unleashed an unexpected response from the audience. What's Happening Nivedita Basu, Creative Director of the show, shared some memorable anecdotes from the 2000 daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi recently, as the reboot is all set to air on July 29, 2025. Speaking particularly about Mihir's death scene in the show, she told India Today, "Television was the only medium then. There was no OTT; there were not many films; the whole world used to collectively watch TV. We also didn't have social media, yet its popularity was unmatched. I remember Ekta and me would walk to Siddhivinayak, and people would come and fall onto Ekta's feet, even elders, making her embarrassed. When we were climbing up to our homes, we could hear the title song being played, and you would know that the whole world was watching. So that time and era were very different. I mean, the whole litmus test was out there in the open." Furthermore, she added, "I remember when Mihir died, Ekta had a brilliant strategy. Towards the end of the episode, she put Amar Upadhyay's birthdate and the date he died on the show. People were crying, howling, and thinking about what happened to Amar. I still keep mentioning it in every interview of mine. We had to call him back to the office to tell people that he was alive. Only the character is dead," "I remember TRP was 27 when Mihir came back. That's a lot on television; I think all the channels' cumulative would not get that. Of course, other shows are doing well, but I feel proud that we created history," concluded Nivedita Basu. Furthermore, she added how the show had 32 actors and what a challenge it was to get them together, as most of the time they are committed to other projects. Smriti Irani On Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Delay Smriti Irani, who played the central role in the original, spoke about the project during a conversation with Barkha Dutt and Karan Johar on an episode of We The Women. "If you look at the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi journey in totality, the most well-kept secret about it was that I had a contract to do it again in 2014, and I walked away from it because I had to serve in the Indian Parliament as a cabinet minister. The set was ready, but there was a phone call from the Prime Minister's office that you have to take an oath," she said. She also spoke about an opportunity she had turned down at the time. "I remember Rishi Kapoor telling me to leave now because to serve your country is a greater service than just doing a movie or doing television," Irani added. In A Nutshell The creative director of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi spoke about how Mihir's death in the show had created a frenzy among fans. She spoke about the chaos that unravelled and Ekta Kapoor's hilarious addition to the scene.

Ravi Kishan Recalls Days Of Extreme Poverty: "12 People Slept On Top Of Each Other"
New Delhi: Ravi Kishan, the superstar of Bhojpuri cinema, made a niche of his own in the Hindi film industry. Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies (2023) put the spotlight back on Ravi Kishan's potential and range, owning a rustic character in its real colour. During his recent appearance on Raj Shamani Podcast, Ravi Kishan looked back at his days of extreme poverty and shared how he overcame those hurdles. What's Happening Ravi Kishan shared that his fans and followers get motivated from stories of his relentless struggles. "I have seen a lot of poverty. I saw so much poverty that I was disgusted by it. I grew up seeing as many as 12 people (his family) eating the same Khichdi that contained only a little bit of rice and so much water. We all slept in a 10×12 room, sometimes even on top of each other. "Even the toilet was situated outside the house. I was extremely poor and was fed up with poverty as well as the taunts. I did not want to hear my father being ridiculed any more," recalled the actor. When asked if things would have been different for him had he belonged to another caste, the superstar asserted his willpower. "Ravi Kishan would have been Ravi Kishan no matter which caste he belonged to. This is because I was blessed by Lord Shiva. And I didn't want to die an anonymous man. Once I decided that I didn't want to die unknown, I was ready to do whatever it took. What's the benefit of you coming to earth if even your neighbour doesn't know that you passed away? You are not here to just make children or buy a bungalow. Recognition is what matters, and money will follow. Name or price? Name! Once you attain a name, everything will come running after you," he shared his philosophy of life. During the same interview, Ravi Kishan said how he keeps himself fit and healthy to take on life's new challenges. "Go to gym every day. If you don't have money to join a gym, go for a run every day on the road. Run for at least 3-5 km. Hit 200 pushups. Soak chana in water overnight, and the next morning, drink the water and eat the soaked chana. Even if you are poor, you get these things for free from the government; make use of them. At least, wake up before sunrise and exercise daily. Watch sunrise every day, and that itself will bring about all the changes," he said. Ravi Kishan's Films Actor-turned-politican Ravi Kishan made his debut with the 1992 film Pitambar with Mithun Chakraborty. In recent times, he was seen in films like Mission Raniganj, Singham Again, Daaku Maharaaj. He will also be seen in Son of Sardaar 2 with Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn.

Taran Adarsh in his appreciation post for the film wrote, "Tuesday's numbers are HIGHER than Monday's - and Monday was already HIGHER than Friday. "What makes this feat even more commendable is that these numbers have come during a regular weekend and working weekdays... The discounted ticket pricing initiative on Tuesday certainly helped, but there's no denying that the film is in unstoppable mode." 'SAIYAARA' IS UNSTOPPABLE - UNSHAKEABLE... The DREAM RUN continues... #Saiyaara remains above the ₹ 20 cr mark for the fifth consecutive day – a milestone that even major films often struggle to achieve.
