Two-year-old boy killed and man seriously injured in crash - as motorist is arrested in connection
A two-year-old boy has died and a man has been left with serious injuries following a tragic crash involving 'multiple pedestrians'.
Police were called to the junction of Harbour Street and Cromwell Road in Whistable, Kent, at around 8.24pm yesterday to reports of an incident involving 'a car and multiple pedestrians'.
Officers say the toddler was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while medics rushed a man to hospital where he is receiving treatment for critical injuries.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene for causing death by dangerous driving and he remains in custody while investigations continue.
One witness told KentOnline that a car had gone 'through the barrier' at the scene, which is close to Gorrell Tank car park.
She said: 'A young man approached us and advised us not to take the children to where we had parked as something had happened.
'My granddaughter said she could see a car had gone through the barrier. When my husband came back with the car he said lots of people were crying.'
